Melanie Hamrick: Why I’m Not Marrying Mick Jagger and Find Rolling Stones Boring
Sir Mick Jagger’s fiancee, Melanie Hamrick, has shared that she is postponing their wedding due to apprehensions about marrying a past playboy like him.
Offering a unique perspective on her connection with the 81-year-old rock star, the ex-ballerina, aged 37, additionally mentions that they plan to relocate permanently to London by next year, enabling them to enroll their eight-year-old son, Deveraux, in school there.
‘We’ve been engaged two or three years,’ Melanie confirmed in a new interview with Paris Match.
Perhaps someday we’ll tie the knot, perhaps not. Our present happiness is so profound that any alteration seems daunting. I can’t quite label it, but in essence, it’s a deep sense of contentment.
The secret to their happiness, she claims is supporting each other and being there for each other.
Melanie and Mick, 81, met in Tokyo in February 2014 when the Stones were on tour.

During that period, the rock star was involved in a lasting romance with fashion designer L’Wren Scott. Tragically, she took her own life in March of the same year.
She admitted that it wasn’t an instant, overwhelming love, instead humorously commenting: “Perhaps there was a flicker of interest, but nothing extraordinary like: ‘I’ll drive you crazy, and we’ll traverse the globe together!’ We didn’t even swap contact information.
Melanie remembered that Mick was involved in a romantic partnership when they last communicated, which was around half a year later due to a common friend who shared her contact information with him.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I recently found myself exchanging messages with an old acquaintance, proposing a casual coffee date. This simple text message sparked a reunion, as we found ourselves catching up in the charming city of Zurich.
While her parents were a big fan of the Stones, Melanie admits she found them ‘boring’.
In some instances, when I asked for ice cream I didn’t deserve, my mom would occasionally sing ‘I Can’t Get No Satisfaction’. In response, I’d say, “Mom, please stop, it gets repetitive.
Prior to her romance with the renowned rock star, she had a tendency to be drawn towards older gentlemen. For instance, when she was only 19 years old, she began dating José Manuel Carreño, a Cuban dancer who was 38 at that point in time.
Melanie maintains that she doesn’t pay attention to the opinions or comments regarding her 44-year age difference with Mick, as she is content, healthy, and causing no harm to others.

Mick Jagger is the father of eight kids. His eldest, Karis Jagger (born in the late 1960s), is the result of a short-lived relationship he had with Marsha Hunt, who is both a singer and an actress.
After being married to Bianca Jagger for seven years, which ended in 1978, he went on to have Jade Jagger (53). The four other children he had with Jerry Hall from Texas are Elizabeth (41), James (39), Georgia May (33) and Gabriel (27).
Additionally, Mick Jagger is a father to Lucas, aged 25, who is born from his relationship with Brazilian TV host and model, Luciana Gimenez. According to her, all family members get along harmoniously.
Melanie, previously a ballet dancer for the American Ballet Theatre, chose to retire in 2019 – a choice she attributes now to the challenge of juggling her career and motherhood.
She confessed that she had overworked herself and ended up drained, which led her to temporarily withdraw from dancing when Dev was just three years old.
Melanie also said Dev is ‘an easy child’ and copes well with her and Mick’s travelling lifestyle.
It comes just after Melanie revealed that Deveraux has an ‘amazing’ singing voice.
Previously a ballerina and writer shared insights on how a young child, aged eight, might be preparing for a melodious career similar to that of his renowned father in music.

However she admitted she would never want to be a pushy ‘stage parent’ with her child.
She shared with Hello! Magazine: “When my child was young, we’d play the Hokey Cokey every now and then, but now he’ll say, ‘Mom, that’s not hip.’ It’s hard to believe he’s a teenager already. Yet, I truly enjoy watching his skills flourish.
I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing his actions, but at the same time, I don’t wish to burden him excessively because the responsibility is quite heavy for both Mick and me.
When he sings at school performances, my response is often exclamations such as ‘Wow, his singing talent is incredible, didn’t you all hear that?’ However, I sometimes find myself thinking, ‘Let Melanie allow him to enjoy being a child; she shouldn’t push him towards the stage just yet.’
