Melanie confirms the theory we had about Alex’s dad in Snowpiercer
As a dedicated Snowpiercer fan, I have to say that the latest twist in Season 4 has left me both shocked and intrigued. The revelation that Nima is Alex’s biological father (or rather, sperm donor) was a curveball I didn’t see coming, but it adds a new layer of complexity to the storyline that I can’t wait to unravel.
From the minute Nima was introduced in Snowpiercer, we all had the same theory. He was Alex’s dad.
Caution: This post contains spoilers for Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 9.
The summary hinted that Melanie would reveal to Alex that Nima was her biological father. Indeed, all speculations proved correct. This information, although not entirely hidden after Nima’s introduction, represented the first time Melanie needed to disclose it to her daughter.
Nima isn’t a dad but a sperm donor in Snowpiercer
Melanie didn’t quite say that Nima is Alex’s dad, though. She shared that Nima was the donor.
Melanie and Nima have been close friends for some time. When Melanie first met Nima, she saw him as a person with an extraordinary mission to change the world. He had a strong stance against large corporations due to their financial exploitation, which was the idealistic version of Nima that Melanie admired. However, it has become clear that this is not the man Nima has evolved into today.
In the past, Melanie was eager to take on motherhood. Nima was content with being a sperm donor, but preferred to remain unidentified. With all the chaos in New Eden and Nima’s mission to save the world, Melanie felt that his anonymity could no longer be maintained.
Whenever I’d fact-check a story with Nima, I’d often find myself nodding in agreement. Interestingly enough, Nima once mentioned that my sharp intellect was a trait she had passed down to me. Something about that makes me swell with pride.
Can Alex and Melanie save the world from Nima in Snowpiercer?
Thankfully, Alex won’t fall prey to manipulation. Instead, she intends to thwart Nima’s plans for global destruction. Upon learning that Melanie fears Gemini might bring about total annihilation, Alex is determined to take all necessary actions to stop Nima from distributing the chemical.
Although it won’t be simple, here’s the deal: Melanie and Alex feigned an interest in Nima’s desires. This charade was essential for safeguarding New Eden and devising a plan to halt Gemini from consuming Earth’s remaining oxygen.
In the second-to-last episode, Melanie and Alex made their way secretly to the lower part of the train in order to rejoin Layton and the group, ready to aid them in battling Nima and his squad of animals.
