Rudy Youngblood, known for his role in Mel Gibson’s film Apocalypto, is facing new legal issues just two months after being arrested for assault.
Texas police arrested him on Wednesday based on an existing warrant, alleging he had illegal drugs, according to TMZ.
He was arrested and taken to Henderson County Jail for possession of a small amount of an illegal substance – between one and four grams. This is a serious crime that could result in up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Police initially pulled the actor over for driving too fast. During the stop, they discovered there was an existing arrest warrant out for them.
Youngblood was taken into custody without incident and remains jailed as of Friday morning.
Okay, so I’ve been following River Youngblood for ages, and it’s… complicated. I just found out about this thing from October 2025 – apparently, he was arrested for assaulting someone close to him. The details are awful – it says he, like, cut off their breathing or circulation. Honestly, it’s disturbing, but I still… I just need to understand what happened. It’s just so unlike the River I think I know.
He was previously arrested in 2017 for disorderly intoxication by Miami police, but the charges were ultimately dropped.
Police arrested Youngblood in October 2025 after a warrant was issued alleging he assaulted a family member by restricting their breathing or blood flow.
Police discovered the warrant after receiving a report about a car parked near the Lake Belton boat ramp around 12:20 a.m.
Police allege a white crystalline substance was found on Youngblood during the arrest.
According to Corey Powell, spokesperson for the Bell County Sheriff’s Office, Rudy Youngblood was arrested by the Belton, Texas Police Department on October 15, 2025, at 12:31 a.m. He was booked into the Bell County Jail on a warrant from the Austin Municipal Court for assaulting a family member and intentionally restricting their breathing or circulation.
‘He is currently in custody on a $20,000 bond and awaiting transport to Travis County.’
The Bell County jail records show that Youngblood was charged with a third-degree felony for assaulting a family member by intentionally restricting their breathing or blood flow.
This incident happened less than a year after Youngblood was released from jail in Athens, Greece, after a run-in with the police.
According to Greek authorities, he was arrested in the early morning of December 27, 2025, after allegedly being drunk and threatening police with a knife.
He claimed the officers were not wearing identifying insignia and did not explain his rights.
The actor, originally from Texas, faces charges of resisting arrest, making threats, and possessing a weapon – a pocketknife – after police found it on him.
Although he received a 10-month prison sentence that was suspended, he was held in custody because his visa had expired. He was ordered to be deported, but he appealed this decision and ultimately left Greece on his own.
Rudy Youngblood became well-known for his role as Jaguar Paw in the film Apocalypto, where he played a character escaping the downfall of the Mayan civilization.
Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE this! Apparently, way back in 2017, he got into a little trouble at a casino in Miami. TMZ said he was arrested for being drunk and disorderly, but thankfully, the charges were dropped! It was just a silly misunderstanding, honestly, and I’m just glad it didn’t stick. I’ve been following him FOREVER and even his little mishaps are endearing, you know?
Apocalypto, spoken entirely in Mayan, was a box office hit, grossing over $120 million worldwide.
In a 2006 interview with People magazine, Gregg Youngblood described Mel Gibson as a very intelligent and likable person, noting that they quickly established a good rapport and worked well together.
He explained that their connection was immediate – he could tell what the other wanted without a word. He was grateful for the support, especially since it was his first time working on a film.
Most recently, Youngblood appeared in the 2023 horror film The Haunting of Hell Hole Mine.
He’s also appeared in several films, including Dandelion Season (2021), Hell on the Border (2019), Wind Walkers (2015), and Beatdown (2010).
