Mel C teases a Spice Girls reunion as she headlines New Year’s Eve concert in Sydney

Mel C, formerly of the Spice Girls, has hinted that the group is working on getting back together, which fans have been hoping for a long time.

The performer, 51, shared these thoughts in an interview before her New Year’s Eve show at Sydney Harbour on Thursday.

Melanie Chisholm, known as Mel, expressed how proud she is to have been a Spice Girl and highlighted the group’s impressive legacy, including nine number-one hits in the UK.

During ABC’s New Year’s Eve broadcast, Zan Rowe asked Mel about the Spice Girls’ upcoming 30th anniversary in 2026.

‘I feel really proud of everything that we did,’ she gushed and continued:

It’s amazing to see a new generation discovering the Spice Girls and our music. I’m incredibly proud of what we achieved, and it would be fantastic to find a way to celebrate that legacy.

Mel C teased that her New Year’s Eve performance at the Sydney Opera House would be exciting, suggesting she’ll be performing popular songs from her time with the Spice Girls.

Elsewhere in the chat, Mel C said she was ‘honoured’ to help usher in the New Year Down Under.

She said she couldn’t imagine a better place to be and promised to give her show her all.

It’s truly an honor to be here. As Brits, we really appreciate how you all celebrate – you’re among the first in the world to ring in the New Year!

This follows Mel C’s appearance on Good Morning America last month, where she discussed her new album, Sweat, which is set to be released soon.

During her appearance, she was asked about a Spice Girls comeback.

Crossing her fingers, Mel said: ‘I remain optimistic. It’s our thirtieth anniversary next year.

‘We toured in 2019, we did a few stadium shows in the UK, and it was incredible.

We’re incredibly proud of everything we’ve achieved as the Spice Girls, and it’s amazing to see new generations discovering and loving our music. I’d really love to perform with the other girls again.

We’re exploring potential options and having conversations, but we’re being very careful. We want to be absolutely sure any decision we make is the right one for everyone involved, and we’re taking the time to ensure we all agree.

The Spice Girls were formed in 1994 and achieved their first major success in 1996 with the incredibly popular song, “Wannabe.”

The group continued to release hit songs, such as “Say You’ll Be There,” “Spice Up Your Life,” and “Who Do You Think You Are.”

Last year, all five members of the band got together to celebrate Victoria’s 50th birthday.

At a glamorous party, all five Spice Girls reunited to perform their song “Stop” for the excited crowd, and David Beckham captured the whole moment on video.
