Mel B’s daughter Phoenix Brown reveals plans to collaborate with fellow Spice Baby Cruz Beckham as she opens up on their sweet friendship

Phoenix Brown, Mel B’s daughter, recently shared that she’s planning to work with Cruz Beckham, and spoke about their close friendship in a new interview.

The 26-year-old, whose father is dancer Jimmy Gulzar, is now pursuing a career as an artist and DJ. She performed at the Glastonbury festival last year.

Her mother Mel B formed The Spice Girls with Victoria, Geri Halliwell, Mel C and Emma Bunton.

David and Victoria Beckham’s son, Cruz, age 20, is pursuing a music career, recently performing gigs and creating his own songs.

In a recent interview with Heat Magazine, Phoenix expressed excitement about hearing music from fellow artist Cruz, saying he’d be thrilled to collaborate with him someday. He described the potential collaboration as ‘amazing’.

She shared her affection for Victoria, describing her as family and expressing admiration for everything she does.

She explained that while she does occasionally spend time with the Beckham children – including Brooklyn, Romeo, and Harper – it’s not very often. Everyone is busy with their own lives, but she does see Cruz and Romeo from time to time when their schedules allow.

For years, people have been talking about the possibility of a Spice Girls reunion. While Mel B and Victoria Beckham are still friends, Victoria wasn’t at Mel B’s wedding to Rory Mcphee last year.

Phoenix recently shared that her mother once told her she was the more well-known one, and that Phoenix wouldn’t achieve the same level of success. This led Phoenix to declare she wouldn’t live in her mother’s shadow.

The daughter of Spice Girl Mel B recently told The Daily Mail that she soon understood she needed to forge her own identity and career, especially given discussions about being a ‘nepo baby’ – someone who benefits from family connections.

She openly acknowledged the discussion around ‘nepo babies’ and even made a documentary about it for Channel 4 last year. Called ‘Born in the Limelight – Nepo Babies: Untold,’ the film explored both the benefits and difficulties of growing up as the child of a famous person.

The star now does DJ work and exhibits her art in London as she makes a career for herself.

In a recent interview last September, she openly shared that she’s on a path of self-discovery, exploring her identity, preferences, and future goals. She admitted she doesn’t have all the answers yet, but she’s embracing the process of finding them.

She credits her mother for teaching her to step out of the shadow of fame.

Phoenix revealed: ‘My mum kind of let me know that ‘I’m the famous one and you’re not.’

It hit me so fast – I had to figure out who I was, not just live in someone else’s shadow. Honestly, it’s been a whole journey just trying to do that, and it’s still going on!

Phoenix understands that her mother’s success with the Spice Girls is the foundation of her own public image, and it’s why people often refer to her as someone who benefits from family connections.

She directly addressed the topic in her Channel 4 documentary, Born in the Limelight – Nepo Babies: Untold.

She said of the show: ‘I was so nervous to do it just because it was such a taboo subject.

I figured there were two possible reactions: people might completely dismiss it and be critical, or they might actually listen and think about how it applies to their own lives, not just to famous people. It’s a widespread issue that affects everyone.

And as for the ‘nepo baby’ tag?

Phoenix acknowledges being a ‘nepo baby’ – someone who benefits from family connections in their career – and isn’t trying to hide it. They accept the label, but want to be known as Phoenix.
