Mel B dashes hopes of Spice Girls 30th anniversary tour and says she may never perform with the group again as she takes swipe at bandmates who ‘don’t want to be honest’ in proposed Netflix doc

Okay, so I’m hearing a lot of buzz about a possible Spice Girls reunion for their 30th anniversary, and I’m here to set the record straight. I recently spoke with Mel B, and she’s shared that, sadly, another performance with the group might not happen. It sounds like she’s really come to terms with the possibility of never sharing the stage with the other girls again, which is definitely heartbreaking for all of us fans!

The singer, now 50, rose to fame as a member of the popular girl group – which also included Mel C, Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham, and Geri Horner – in 1996. The group disbanded in 2001.

The group got back together in 2007 for a world tour, then performed at the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics. In 2019, they toured the UK with just four members, as Victoria didn’t participate.

In addition to canceling plans to get back together, Mel also appears to have ended the possibility of a Netflix documentary about the group. She criticized her bandmates, claiming they weren’t willing to be truthful in front of the cameras.

She stated that a reunion is highly unlikely, and would be a complete surprise if it ever happened. Reflecting on the 2019 tour, she felt completely at home, but acknowledged that it’s time to move on. At 50 years old, she doesn’t want to pressure anyone into touring if they’re not enthusiastic, and she considers that chapter closed.

You know, I was listening to Mel talk about her bandmates, and it’s clear she has a really special connection with them. However, she hinted that even if they decided to get back together, she wasn’t sure she’d be on board. It’s a tricky situation – amazing history, but she’s clearly thinking about her own path now.

I really don’t know if I’d ever perform with the Spice Girls again. I have a lot of love and respect for the other members. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them – they’ve had a huge impact on my life, and I have great memories. But I’m not sure I’d want to get back on stage with them.

Mel then talked about the rumors surrounding a potential documentary on Netflix, similar to the films made about David and Victoria Beckham.

You know, I’ve always felt like everyone wonders about this, and I definitely have too. But it’s crucial that if it does happen, it’s done correctly, with complete honesty. It’s just… not everyone is willing to be that truthful, which is the hard part.

Mel C has stated that a Spice Girls reunion isn’t happening right now. In an interview on The Smallzy Show, she explained that while the group members stay in touch and would like to collaborate on something in the future, there are no concrete plans at this time.

I’m still hopeful and keeping my fingers crossed that the Spice Girls will reunite someday.

Oh my god, can you BELIEVE it?! There was supposed to be a Netflix series about the Spice Girls – a SERIES! – and it was going to be HUGE. Each of the girls – Victoria, Emma, Mel B, Mel C, and Geri – were set to make a MILLION pounds each! But apparently, Geri’s thrown a wrench in everything. I’ve heard reports that she’s somehow stopped the whole deal, and I’m absolutely devastated! It was going to be amazing, and now… I just can’t even think about it!

According to insiders, a major falling out between Geri and Mel B created so much tension within the band that they struggled to find a manager who could effectively negotiate and get their projects completed.

The conflict started in 2019 when Mel revealed on Piers Morgan’s talk show that she and Geri had a brief romantic relationship during the band’s popular years in the 1990s.

Geri insisted the affair never happened, and Mel was accused of fabricating the story to boost sales of her memoir, Brutally Honest.

Victoria had repeatedly said she wouldn’t rejoin the band, emphasizing her commitment to her fashion work and stating that her time with the Spice Girls was a relatively short chapter in her life.

In an interview with Andy Cohen on Sirius XM last October, she revealed that she struggled with self-confidence before joining the Spice Girls, and that the group helped her believe in herself.

While I enjoy performing on stage, I’ve come to realize it’s not what I want to focus on long-term.

She joked that she wasn’t sure she could even sing anymore, admitting she never considered herself a particularly strong vocalist. While the idea of performing was appealing, she knew a world tour was out of the question – she has a job to consider.

‘How good would the Spice Girls be at the Sphere? I love the idea of it.’

Victoria’s most recent performance with the band was at the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony. Before that, she toured the world with them in 2007 and 2008.

Geri left the band in 1998 in the middle of their world tour and on Mel B’s birthday.

When Geri left the band, it made international news, and the group eventually stopped performing together for two years.

In 1996, the Spice Girls became famous overnight with their first hit song, “Wannabe,” which topped the charts in 37 countries around the world.

The girl group topped the UK charts nine times and released two albums that reached number one. After Geri left, she began a successful solo career, scoring four number one singles in the UK.
