Meghan Trainor reveals illness during pregnancy made her drop 60lbs with help of weight loss drug

Meghan Trainor has explained why she lost 60 pounds, addressing the attention her weight loss has received.

After having her sons, Riley (age four) and Barry (age two) with her husband Daryl Sabara, Meghan Trainor had a breast augmentation and lost 60 pounds.

Earlier this year, fans began speculating about the 31-year-old’s weight loss, noticing her slimmer figure as the use of Ozempic became popular in Hollywood.

In April, she confirmed the rumors, stating she had been using Mounjaro, a medication similar to Ozempic that was first created as a treatment for diabetes.

She recently revealed she had gestational diabetes during her pregnancy with Barry. This led her to become very focused on her health and start a fitness plan that helped her lose the weight she gained after giving birth, as she shared on Los Angeles radio station KBIG.

Gestational diabetes usually disappears after pregnancy, but the Mayo Clinic notes that it increases your chances of developing type 2 diabetes in the future.

After receiving the diagnosis, Trainor realized she needed to prioritize her health and fitness to continue touring. She explained that she wanted to be strong enough to easily lift her children without injuring herself.

She carefully monitors her digestion and hormones because she believes feeling healthy is essential for succeeding in her demanding job.

Trainer just released a new song, ‘Still Don’t Care,’ addressing the people who harass her online. In the song, she portrays herself as unbothered and confident, saying she’s ‘too cool to cry’ and ‘too hot to stress.’

Despite appearing confident, she recently revealed she was actually quite upset by the negative reaction she got after losing weight.

It’s strange, but I’ve been feeling really good about myself and learning to love who I am, and that’s when I started getting the most negativity. I was honestly confused and hurt that taking care of myself made so many people upset.

She explained that after her song ‘All About That Bass’ became popular, people kept asking her why she had lost weight. She was only 19 when the song came out and has been focused on health and fitness ever since.

Trainor copes with harsh criticism by leaning on her family and friends, and by remembering the advice of her therapist, who pointed out that she was letting strangers have too much influence over her feelings.

When her therapist pointed something out, she immediately thought, ‘Ugh, I don’t want to let anyone else control me! I want to be independent and not worry about what others think.’

She revealed she was using Mounjaro on April Fool’s Day, responding to online speculation that began after people noticed a change in her appearance on the red carpet.

She admitted she’s changed a lot in the past decade, explaining she’s been focused on becoming healthier and stronger, both for herself and to be a good example for her children.

After having my second baby, I focused on getting healthy. I worked with a nutritionist, made big changes to my daily habits, and started working out with a trainer. I also used medication, specifically Mounjaro, along with professional guidance, and I’m really happy with the results – I feel fantastic!

She encouraged everyone to celebrate their skills, personal development, and the importance of self-care. She ended her message with a call to focus on truly important things, signing it ‘With love’.

Trainor has gained a lot of fans for being open and honest about her weight loss journey, including the medical procedures she’s had.

This March, she excitedly revealed on Instagram that she had gotten breast augmentation and a lift.

She shared that she never felt comfortable with her breasts before her surgery, explaining they were uneven and drooped her entire life.

While discussing her past appearance, she shared old videos of herself posing in a see-through white top without a bra.

She announced her upcoming surgery in a post created with Motiva, the company that made her breast implants. She highlighted that the implants offered a natural appearance and comfortable feel.

She said her breasts now appear fuller but still look natural, and are a better fit for her body. She described them as being evenly matched, finally looking like sisters rather than just relatives.

Okay, so she said she was getting a boob job, which we all knew was happening, and then a few months later… there it was! The implants! I was glued to the internet, honestly, waiting for the first pictures. It was… everything I hoped for, and I’ve been following every update since. I just… I’m a huge fan, okay?

She first shared the news in November 2024, explaining she was ready for the procedure now that she had finished breastfeeding.

She described on her podcast, Workin’ On It, how her breasts would alternate between feeling full of milk and then empty, as often happens with breastfeeding.

The singer shared that she’s experienced significant weight fluctuations, going from larger to smaller sizes, and as a result, her breasts have lost some firmness.

It’s challenging because when I’m trying on all the incredible outfits for my upcoming tour and performances, I need to wear very supportive bras,” she explained.

They don’t flatter my figure and can make my clothes look bad. I’ve been saying for years that I’d love to get breast implants.

She revealed she’d always dreamed of getting breast implants and was excited to finally have a fuller chest that she felt more confident with.

The trainer explained that the results wouldn’t be large-scale, and apologized for that. They added that even a small success would be a big boost to their own confidence.
