Megan Thee Stallion’s Team to Depose Tory Lanez in Prison for Defamation Case
Megan Thee Stallion’s lawyers aim to question Tory Lanez while he is incarcerated, approximately one and a half years into his 10-year sentence following his conviction for shooting her.
Lawyers representing the 30-year-old songwriter (whose birth name is Megan Pete) have submitted a petition asking for an opportunity to question Daystar Peterson, aged 32, under oath.
On Monday, a federal judge granted an uncontested request, as reported by Rolling Stone.
In simple terms, Megan Thee Stallion aims to question Daystar Peterson, also known as Lanez, during a court hearing in response to a defamation and cyberstalking lawsuit she has filed against Milagro Gramz (whose real name is Milagro Cooper). This is done in the context of a legal proceeding.
The blogger consistently posted information favoring Lanez during his court case, which Megan Thee Stallion alleges is unjustified support and the spread of harmful lies and slander, even from prison.
Instead of meeting with Lanez in prison, the lawyers for the WAP rapper have arranged for a remote deposition, which was approved by the judge.

According to Rolling Stone, as the plaintiff in the lawsuit, Megan has the option to participate in the questioning if she so chooses.
However, contrary to speculation, Caesar McDowell, the head of the charitable legal organization Unite the People, which represents Tory Lanez in his appeal case, stated that their client had no plans to engage with Megan’s legal team.
If you’re familiar with Tory Lanez like I am, you might find it challenging for him to provide any testimonies. That’s simply not his style, he stated, further clarifying that Tory Lanez has no intention of testifying at this time.
In simpler terms, McDowell pointed out that Lanez isn’t involved in the legal action against Milagro Gramz, which means according to United the People, they aren’t required to make Lanez attend a questioning session (deposition).
Gramz is also being represented by Unite the People.
DailyMail.com has reached out to Unite the People for comment on Lanez’s behalf.
Michael Pancier, Gramz’s lawyer, informed Rolling Stone that Gramz was not planning to block the request for her deposition.
A month after a judge approved Megan’s petition for a civil restraining order, she has been making efforts to get Lanez to speak publicly about the matter.

Last month, Judge Richard Bloom of the Los Angeles County Superior Court decided that Tory Lanez is prohibited from communicating with Megan in any manner – directly or indirectly – for a span of five years.
According to Billboard, Megan testified in court that Lanez conducted a persistent series of bothersome actions towards her, even during his time in prison.
At that point, she stated that she believed Lanez might arrange a violent response against her once he got out of prison.
She emotionally shared in court, ‘It feels as if I have to relive the incident daily. The man who harmed me refuses to let me forget. I fear that when he’s released from prison, his anger towards me might not dissipate… It seems like there’s a chance he could shoot me again, and this time I worry I won’t survive.’
As reported by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Lanez becomes eligible for parole as early as May 2029.
In the court decision regarding Megan’s effort to question Lanez, the federal judge conspicuously omitted any reference to the protective order against him. Moreover, it appears that no restrictions were imposed in the ruling on the types of questions that could be posed during the deposition process.
In the chilly December of ’22, as Megan’s trial loomed over me, I decided to stay quiet on my stand during the proceedings. The jury didn’t need to hear from little ol’ me; they convicted me on three counts instead – first-degree assault with a gun, reckless discharge of that same firearm, and having a hidden weapon in my vehicle. It was my love for her that led me down this tragic path, but the law has spoken, and I must face the consequences.
If someone asks him about the shooting, there’s a good chance he will choose to exercise his Fifth Amendment privilege to avoid incriminating himself, as this could potentially impact his current appeal of his conviction.

In Megan’s legal case against Gramz, she claimed that the blogger had taken things too far by posting a doctored pornographic video featuring her. This action, according to her attorney Alex Spiro, breaches a Florida law that prohibits such ‘altered sexual representations’ of real individuals.
In an interview with DailyMail.com in October, Megan expressed her belief that it’s past due to make bloggers responsible for their long-standing actions of harassment, cyberbullying, and spreading false information about her private and professional life.
I’ve faced numerous personal criticisms stemming from untruths spread by bloggers on social media, who falsely claim to be journalists.
She added: ‘Such actions are not tolerated, and those responsible must grasp that there will be consequences for carelessly spreading misinformation and damaging remarks.’
On platform X, Gramz publicly admitted receiving notice of a lawsuit filed by Alex Spiro, acting on behalf of his client Megan Thee Stallion.
Following her citation from the letter, she also mentioned, “We’ll certainly discuss that topic. They included the tape as well.
The lawsuit alleges that Gramz intentionally made defamatory remarks against Ms. Pete, not for any legitimate purpose but merely to intimidate, torment, and retaliate against her due to Lanez’s conviction, thereby damaging her reputation and inflicting emotional harm.
In the lawsuit, it was stated that Defendant Cooper’s actions towards Ms. Pete have become increasingly extreme. An instance of this is when he shared a supposed deepfake adult content video featuring Ms. Pete.

On the heels of my actions sparking a whirlwind of disapproval, I took to YouTube on June 9, 2024, to firmly stand by my ground. In this video, I labeled Ms. Pete as someone who’s skilled at playing the role of a victim and vehemently defended myself against any accusations of wrongdoing.
However, the Defendant’s actions are misguided. What she did was illegally promoting a modified sexual portrayal, which resulted in significant emotional trauma and damage to Ms. Pete’s reputation.
The lawsuit mentions that Megan has persistently attempted to halt Defendant Cooper’s inappropriate behavior, and also inquired about the conditions necessary to cease her appearance on Defendant’s platforms.
According to the lawsuit, the Defendant offered a sarcastic suggestion to Ms. Pete, saying she should either “let it go” or leave.
In a letter addressed to the blogger, Megan’s legal representative stated that due to the ongoing harassment from the defendant, ‘Ms. Pete’, who is a victim of violent crime and a strong advocate for women’s rights with her global fanbase, will no longer tolerate such treatment.
He declared that Gramz consistently propagated untruths regarding the case. Among other things, he cast doubt on whether Megan had actually been shot and asserted that the rapper was attempting to mislead the court.
It has been asserted that Gramz recently made a controversial statement suggesting that the gun involved in the shooting disappeared, highlighting his role as a paid representative who disseminates false information about Daystar Peterson, more commonly known as Lanez.
For quite some time, you and numerous other bloggers have been functioning like a gossip mill on the internet, spreading untruths about Miss Pete to your large base of social media followers, under the name of Mr. Peterson, who is also known as Tory Lanez… (79 words)

‘The person bringing the lawsuit (Plaintiff) is well-aware of your secret alliance with Mr. Peterson and recognizes that you are being compensated by him. Your actions have consistently demonstrated this fact. In addition, you have continually advocated for a discredited theory claiming that Mr. Peterson did not harm the Plaintiff, despite all evidence pointing to the contrary. This theory has only served to belittle the truth.’
In simpler terms, Spiro alleged that Gramz insulted Megan by labeling her as an “angry black woman” and a disrespectful individual, who falsely accused the rapper of having a severe alcohol problem. He suggested that Megan should invest more time in her personal relationships, particularly with her therapist, possibly AA as well.
In simpler terms, the lawsuit claims that Gramz frequently used automated accounts, specifically one named X, to bully and intimidate the supporters of the plaintiff whenever they questioned his inaccurate statements.
In this correspondence, we are informing you about the issues at hand and providing instructions on how to preserve any pertinent data that might be needed later in the process.
As a dedicated follower, I want to clarify that the legal actions brought against me encompass a range of issues. These allegations span from promoting sexually suggestive content that has been manipulated, cyberstalking, causing emotional distress intentionally, violating privacy by portraying false information about someone (false light), and seeking injunctive relief due to my persistent harassment towards Ms. Pete.
Ms. Pete retains the ability to expand her grievance by adding more issues related to your actions, potentially including defamation.
After a contentious verbal dispute between the Canadian musician and Megan, their supporters engaged in passionate debates in public forums, due to the intense popularity of both artists.
Following his conviction, Lanez could be deported to Canada, where he was born.

Born and raised in Brampton, Ontario, the imprisoned rapper subsequently lived in Montreal with his family, eventually moving further south, initially to Miami, followed by a move to Atlanta.
During Lanez’s court proceedings, Megan openly confessed to having a romantic history with the defendant. She also detailed an incident where they had a disagreement in the back seat of his car, which was happening in the Hollywood Hills at the time.
On the morning of July 12, 2020, they found themselves at a pool party hosted by Kylie Jenner, and it was revealed that they had been consuming alcohol before their ensuing disagreement.
Megan stated that she requested Lanez’s chauffeur to allow her exit from the vehicle, following which she claimed he shouted “Dance bitch!” and started shooting a gun at her from his hand.
It’s said that he fired five shots, hitting the well-known rapper from WAP in the feet. This injury necessitated a surgical procedure for repair.
Afterwards, Megan asserted that he proposed a million dollars to both her and Kelsey Harris to keep quiet regarding the shooting incident, since he was already under probation.
Additionally, Megan stated that Lanez subsequently apologized to her following the incident, explaining his actions as being under the influence of alcohol.
