Megan Thee Stallion announced as host for 2024 MTV VMAs - but not everyone is happy about it

As a seasoned music enthusiast with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that this year’s VMAs lineup is nothing short of exhilarating! The fresh faces and established stars alike are set to light up the stage at USB Arena.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Megan Thee Stallion will be hosting the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards! However, not everyone seems to be as excited about this news.

On September 11th, the artist known for “Hot Girl Summer,” aged 29, who has previously hosted Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon as host, is set to perform.

The star is nominated for five awards including  including best collaboration and best hip-hop.

She previously won best power anthem for Hot Girl Summer.

Overjoyed as I was by the latest news, I couldn’t help but notice a divided response from fellow fans on social media. While some of us enthusiastically cheered for Megan, others didn’t shy away from bringing up her high-profile feuds with rap legends like Cardi B and Nicki Minaj.

One fan wrote: It’s wild how many people are genuinely livid that Megan Thee Stallion has a management company that’s good. Y’all want her making bad business decisions so bad.

“If Megan Thee Stallion is hosting the VMAs, I can only imagine how much my Barbs are chatting about it!” (Barbs being a term for Nicki Minaj’s fanbase)

Oh, this is definitely going to cause a massive fan war in just three, two, one.

Another wrote: ‘Why does no one talk about a monarchy?

‘A monarchy with a real queen, who looks like Megan Thee Stallion @theestallion

The situation seems to deteriorate every four years. How can you persist in voting, thereby prolonging this apparent deceitful system? (In a more casual tone, it could be: Every four years, things just get worse. Why keep voting and let this seemingly corrupt system carry on?)

Another typed: ‘It burns a hole in what’s left of Nicki’s soul to see the other rap girls thriving

‘Megan hosting the VMAs in QUEENS making her spiral again’

‘copying nicki with everything. how pitiful.’

In June Megan  seemingly reignited her better feud with Minaj in her ‘diss track’.

Approximately five months following an incident where Nicki took aim with lyrics (not actual bullets) in her track “Big Foot,” Megan has countered the 41-year-old rapper in her latest song titled “Rattle.” Eagle-eyed fans have noticed the specific point of response.

The conflict between the pair escalated following Megan’s perceived ridicule of Nicki and her spouse Kenneth in her song titled “Hiss.”

Since that time, the rappers have been going at each other repeatedly, and it appears their feud shows no signs of abating.

In Nicki’s song Big Foot, she sings: ‘You know I got a lot of tea, I went easy on you.’

In my latest track, I subtly respond to recent speculations with the lines, “I’ve got no gossip here, seems like she thinks I’m TMZ.”

If a discreet jab didn’t seem to faze her, Megan directly criticized Nicki’s personal circumstances by saying, “Perhaps you should focus on your partner and child. It seems like your life might be quite uneventful.”

Supporters believe that the lyrics penned by Megan are a direct jab at Nicki, as they voiced their opinions on platform Y, which was previously recognized as Twitter.

As a longtime fan of hip-hop, I’ve noticed a recurring pattern among new female rappers: they often try to gain attention and boost their album sales by publicly criticizing other successful artists, like Nicki Minaj in Megan Thee Stallion’s case. This tactic might work temporarily, but it can tarnish their reputation and limit their long-term success. I find it disheartening to see this pattern repeat itself, especially when the music of these artists lacks originality, like with Megan’s latest song ‘Hiss.’ It’s a shame that they don’t focus more on creating unique, high-quality music instead of relying on cheap tactics to gain popularity.

‘Is Nicki Minaj now on the clock guys??? Looks like Megan thee stallion dissed her’

Nicki Minaj, hinting at gossip: “You’re aware that I have a lot to share, but I held back with you, Megan thee Stallion: I don’t have any gossip on hand, it seems like she thinks she’s TMZ.” (This version maintains the colloquial and playful tone while being easier to read and understand.)

After that, she remarked, “Take care of your partner and children. Your life seems incredibly mundane.” Essentially, Kelsey is being referred to here, since she is the only person with two kids mentioned in the context.

Next month’s MTV Video Music Awards just got an additional boost from some more big-name celebrities joining the lineup.

According to multiple sources like People magazine, Lenny Kravitz, Halsey, Benson Boone, and Blackpink’s Lisa have been announced as performers for the upcoming concert at UBS Arena in Long Island, New York on September 11.

For Kravitz, who is at present promoting his new album Blue Electric Light, this occasion signifies his return to the VMAs since his past performances in 1998, where he teamed up with Madonna for Ray Of Light, and in 1993 when he electrified the stage with his hit Are You Gonna Go My Way.

Throughout her career, Halsey (originally known as Ashley Nicolette Frangipane) has earned nominations for 14 VMAs. She’s now preparing to unveil a fresh track from her highly-awaited upcoming album, but the exact song she’ll perform is still under wraps.

As a seasoned music enthusiast with decades of attending various award shows under my belt, I must say that this year’s MTV VMAs promises to be particularly exciting. Two talented individuals, Boone and Lisa (born Pranpriya Manobal), are set to make their performance debuts at the event, each coming in with impressive nominations.

In addition to Sabrina Carpenter, Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Rauw Alejandro, Katy Perry (who is also receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award), four more musical artists will be performing at the event.

60-year-old Kravitz will attend the live event with a nomination in the Best Rock category for his single “Human.” He faces tough competition from other notable songs such as Green Day’s “Dilemma,” U2’s “Atomic City,” Coldplay’s “feelslikeimfallinginlove,” King’s Of Leon’s “Mustang,” and Bon Jovi’s “Legendary.”

As a long-time fan of rock music, I have always admired Lenny Kravitz for his unique style and powerful voice. Over the years, I have watched him evolve as an artist, and it has been fascinating to see him receive recognition in the form of awards and nominations. While it’s great to see him up for an award this year, I can’t help but think back to the seven nominations he received earlier in his career, one of which he won for Best Male Video for “Are You Gonna Go My Way” in 1993. As someone who grew up listening to Kravitz’s music, it brings a sense of pride and nostalgia knowing that he has achieved such success. I eagerly await the outcome of this year’s award and hope that he takes home the prize once again.

So far, he’s put out three new songs – K421, Human, and Paralyzed – for the 12th studio album in his illustrious career titled Blue Electric Light. This album has sold over 40 million copies globally since his debut album Let Love Rule (1989).

As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share that I, Halsey, have been amping up my promotional efforts for my upcoming fifth studio album. Starting in June, I unveiled the single “The End,” followed by “Lucky” in July, and most recently, on August 15, I released “Lonely Is The Muse.” It’s an exciting journey, and I can’t wait to share more with you!

Since the release of her concept album “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power” in 2021, this will mark her first solo album following her departure from Capitol Records in April 2023.

As a music enthusiast who has been following the industry for over two decades, I have witnessed numerous artists rise and fall. However, Halsey stands out as one of those rare talents whose career trajectory is truly remarkable. Although she didn’t receive an award this year, her impressive resume speaks volumes about her talent and dedication.

Making his debut at the VMAs this year, Boone has been nominated for an impressive total of three awards. He’s contending for the titles of Best New Artist and Best Alternative.

Taylor Swift, a renowned pop sensation, is poised to attend the VMA awards with an impressive record of ten nominations to her name.

Following the triumph of his popular tracks “Ghost Town” and “In The Stars,” Boone unveiled his first studio album, “Fireworks & Rollerblades,” towards the end of April this year. This new release also achieved success with the song “Beautiful Things.”

It’s quite probable, though not yet officially verified, that he might sing the main song when he steps onto the VMAs stage, given his recent achievement of ranking second on the Billboard Hot 100 and first on the UK Singles Chart.

At this year’s VMAs, Lisa – famously recognized as a member of the South Korean girl group Blackpink – is set to make her solo debut performance on the main stage. This follows her groundbreaking achievement in 2022 when she became the first female K-pop solo artist and Korean soloist to win a Moon Person award, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The rap artist earned her initial Video Music Award acknowledgement, garnering nominations in categories such as Best Art Direction, Best Choreography, Best Editing, and Best K-Pop for her track titled “Rockstar.”

The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), recognizing outstanding music videos, artists, and songs from June 22, 2023, to June 20, 2024, initially planned for September 10, have been moved to a day later to steer clear of clashing with the presidential debate featuring Vice-President Kamala Harris and former President Donald J. Trump.

As a die-hard music fan who has attended numerous concerts and awards shows over the years, I am absolutely thrilled that the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards will be taking place live from USB Arena in Long Island, New York on Wednesday, September 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The energy and excitement that surrounds these events is always palpable, and I can’t wait to see the spectacular performances and unexpected moments that are sure to unfold. Having grown up watching these awards shows and seeing my favorite artists take home trophies, it will be a surreal experience to finally attend one in person. I have no doubt that this year’s show will be one for the history books, and I can hardly wait to be a part of it!
