Mega Malamar and Mega Victreebel to make Pokémon GO debut

Pokémon GO is adding two popular Pokémon, Mega Malamar and Mega Victreebel, to the game next month, giving players new creatures to find and battle with.

Pokémon GO players have a lot to look forward to in February! Mega Malamar and Mega Victreebel are finally being added to the game, and will appear during a special event along with their rare, shiny versions.

Here is what we know.

Mega Malamar and Mega Victreebel to make official Pokémon GO debut during Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos

The Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos event kicks off next month! Trainers in Los Angeles and Tainan can participate from February 20th to 22nd, 2026. A worldwide version of the event will then be held from February 28th to March 1st, 2026.

Mega Malamar and Mega Victreebel will be featured in the game for a limited time. After the event, these Pokémon will become much rarer, though they won’t be removed from the game entirely.

And yes, their shiny variants will be available during the event, too.

This event is set in the Kalos region, which is famous as the setting for Pokémon X & Y. Kalos is also where Mega Evolution debuted and will be the location for the new Pokémon Legends: Z-A game.

This event kicks off the celebrations for Pokémon’s 30th anniversary. Expect more announcements about games, events, and other surprises on Pokémon Day, February 27, 2026.

Want more Mega-Evolved Pokémon? The game is not stopping with these two

If you buy a ticket add-on, you’ll have a chance to participate in Mega Night after the main event. During Mega Night, you can catch even more Mega-Evolved Pokémon.

Attendees of the event, both those attending in person and those participating remotely, will have the opportunity to find and encounter the Pokémon Xerneas or Yveltal.

Will you be participating in the upcoming Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos event?
