While she didn’t reveal many details about the sequel’s plot, she did mention an intriguing similarity between the upcoming movie and the original from 2000. “Ben Stiller is now the same age that Bob was when we made the first film, and his children have grown up and must return home to meet their grandparents,” the producer suggested cryptically. As for where the movie stands in development, Rosenthal quipped, “We’re in our seventh trimester.

Discussion about a sequel to the film series that was initially released in December 2024 is underway. Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Teri Polo, and Blythe Danner may reprise their characters, Jack Byrnes, Greg Focker, Pam Byrnes Focker, and Dina Byrnes, respectively, from the previous three films. John Hamburg, who co-wrote all three movies in the series, is in charge of writing the screenplay. Later in March 2025, it was confirmed that Hamburg would not only write but also direct this upcoming sequel. Jay Roach, who directed the first two installments, will return as a producer. As for now, it remains uncertain whether Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand, who are regulars in the franchise, will join the new movie too.

Will Meet the Parents 4 Get a Theatrical Release?

According to Rosenthal, it’s still undecided whether “Meet the Parents 4” will debut in cinemas or be released directly on streaming platforms like Peacock. This decision has sparked some worry among fans due to Universal’s previous choice of releasing “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,” another fourth installment of a popular series, straight onto its streaming service this year, despite it being a movie.

As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but express my hope that “Meet the Parents 4” will grace our local theaters. While I haven’t discussed this possibility with Donna Langley or Ben Stiller yet, let me tell you – there’s something truly special about sharing a laughter-filled experience with a crowd in a theater.
