Meet LTA, the League of Legends Championship of the Americas
As a seasoned gamer with years of League of Legends under my belt and a deep appreciation for regional competitions, I can confidently say that the LTA is shaping up to be a game-changer for the Americas region. The consolidation of the LCS, LLA, and CBLOL into one formidable force is an exciting development that promises to elevate the quality and intensity of professional LoL matches.
The LTA is the future of professional League of Legends for the Americas region.
In simple terms, the League of Legends competition regions for North America (LCS), Latin America (LLA), and Brazil (CBLOL) are merging into a single region called the League of Legends Championship of the Americas (LTA). LTA Explained
For the year 2025, similar to the League of Legends Championships (LCK) and the League of Legends European Championship (LEC), the League of the Tides (LTA) is also planned to be divided into three segments, offering top-tier professional League of Legends competition.
The area is going to be divided into two leagues: LTA North located in Los Angeles, and LTA South situated in São Paulo. This setup aims to fuel local rivalries and stimulate inter-regional competition, while preserving fairness and keeping fans throughout the Americas engaged, as stated by Riot.
LTA Split 1
Both the Northern and Southern divisions will have internal elimination tournaments, where each match is a best-of-three games played in Fearless Mode. The top four teams from the North will then face off against the top four from the South in a single-elimination tournament, also consisting of three games per round. However, the final game between these two top teams will be a best-of-five series to decide the ultimate winner.
2025’s initial International League of Legends tournament will be represented by the victor of our inter-conference bracket, who will be representing their region.
LTA Split 1 begins on January 25, 2025.
LTA Split 2
Both conferences will play on their own for Split 2.
In simple terms, the tournament called “Split 2” starts with every team playing against each other twice in a round-robin format, and each game within their respective conference is a best-of-one match. The top six teams from these rounds then advance to a double-elimination playoff bracket, which consists of five-game series matches. The winning team from this playoff will represent two spots for the MSI 2025 tournament.
LTA Split 3
In a fresh new look, Split 3 will adopt the “Pick & Play” system. While it maintains the traditional best-of-three structure, teams are granted the opportunity to choose their opponents for the upcoming week.
In the upcoming phase, teams’ positions from Split 2 will determine the start of competition. Over the course of three consecutive weeks, the losing team in each contest can select their next opponent. The chosen team should have a higher ranking (or seeding for Split 2, serving as a tiebreaker) than the selecting team and must be an opponent they haven’t encountered this split yet.
For the upcoming weeks 4 through 6, the lower-ranked four teams will strive to avoid elimination. Meanwhile, the top-tier teams continue their games, but this time, those with higher rankings get to select their opponents. By week 6, three teams from each conference survive, and they will compete in the 2025 Americas Regional Championship for a chance at the Worlds spot and the LTA Trophy.
The LTA Split 1 commences on January 25, 2025.
