Channel Nine has dropped its first look at The Golden Bachelor.

I’m so excited about this new series! It’s going to star Barry Myrden, who everyone calls ‘Bear’. He’s a really interesting character – a silver-haired dad of three who’s spent years climbing the ladder in big companies. He’s a widower, and I have a feeling his life experience will bring a lot of depth to the show.

The preview begins with Bear revealing that his beloved partner died 14 years ago, and he shares his grief with the audience.

‘Deep down no one can replace her, but I think I’m ready to find my next love story,’ he says.

The show begins with a touching introduction of Bear and the 20 women competing for his heart, who come from all over the country.

One contestant admitted to feeling very nervous, describing it as ‘butterflies.’ Another made a lighthearted joke, suggesting it might just be the change of life.

The preview shows a lively group of women all hoping to win Bear’s attention. One describes herself as a ‘warrior princess,’ and another playfully teaches him a dance move.

Sam Armytage will host the debut season, which was filmed earlier this year in Sydney.

In March, Bear was seen filming footage on Sydney Harbour, driving a vintage Italian speedboat. He was also meeting the women vying for his affection.

One of the contestants is Bianca Dye, a well-known TV and radio personality. The 51-year-old has had a successful radio career and currently co-hosts the breakfast show on Sea FM 90.9 in Queensland.

Lauren George, a contestant from Queensland, is also thought to be competing. She was spotted arriving at the filming location with hair rollers still in and wearing a full face of makeup.

People close to Bear say he’s ready to start dating after his friends and family have been encouraging him for years.

A friend told Daily Mail Australia that Bear frequently complains his sons think the women he dates are too young and attractive for him.

We always joked he’d be perfect for a reality show like Married at First Sight, so it’s not shocking to see him potentially becoming the Bachelor.

The latest season of the dating show aims for a more genuine and emotional connection, with host Bear sharing his own experiences with love and heartbreak.

‘He’s not your usual reality TV type,’ an insider said.

He’s a captivating and thoughtful man who has experienced a lot in life. He’s known both joy and heartbreak, and now he’s eager to find love again. He’s sure to be a hit with women.
