According to the 2004 film titled “Mean Girls”, the plot follows Cady Heron, a character who relocates to the United States from Africa, only to discover an unfamiliar landscape – the complexities of American high school life.
Quickly, Cady gets caught up in a whirlwind of conflicts when she joins forces with peers Janis and Damian, aiming to challenge a clique of three dominant girls led by the relentless Regina George.
The present lineup of actors for this play features Charlie Burn portraying Cady Heron, Georgina Castle as Regina George, Elèna Gyasi in the role of Gretchen Wieners, Grace Mouat playing Karen Smith, Elena Skye as Janis Sarkisian, and Tom Xander taking on the character of Damian Hubbard.
During our evaluation of the musical, we characterized it as a distinctly individual encounter, and an uproariously enjoyable evening spent at London’s West End.
The musical is honoring the enduring legacy of the 2004 classic teen film while also modernizing its narrative to reflect today’s high school scene. Essentially, it retells the same story with fresh humor, captivating performances, memorable tunes, and brand-new original songs.
Last year, I was thrilled to see the big-screen rendition of the beloved musical, where Reneé Rapp stepped back into the iconic role of Queen Bee Regina George that she played on Broadway, with Angourie Rice brilliantly portraying Cady Heron.
Bebe Wood, Avantika, and Auli’i Cravalho portray counterparts to Gretchen Wieners (Plastics), Karen Shetty (Plastics), and Janis respectively in this production. In simpler terms, Bebe Wood, Avantika, and Auli’i Cravalho play the roles of Gretchen Wieners, Karen Shetty, and Janis from the Plastics group in this performance.
