A recent announcement indicates several new characters, both heroes and villains, are set to make their debut in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Disney+ series. This year, 2025, has been particularly fruitful for Marvel Studios on streaming platforms, with shows like Ironheart, Daredevil: Born Again, and Eyes of Wakanda. However, the momentum doesn’t seem to be slowing down as more exciting additions are still planned. Among them is the highly anticipated Wonder Man series, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and the soon-to-be-released Marvel Zombies.
In the upcoming series, Zombies will present a distinct perspective on the Marvel universe, where a zombie virus has transformed well-known Marvel characters, both heroes and villains, into undead beings. Although fans have already anticipated which characters might appear in this post-apocalyptic animated spectacle, fresh revelations indicate that its superhero team is set to expand significantly.
According to Nexus Point News, there are rumors about seven new, as-yet-unrevealed characters – both heroes and villains – joining the Marvel Zombies universe.
The latest report indicates that multiple new characters are expected to debut on the show, alongside established favorites such as Scarlet Witch, Thanos, Spider-Man, Shang-Chi, and more. For further details about the Marvel Zombies cast, you can read here.
The upcoming Disney+ series, titled “Marvel Zombies,” is set to premiere on October 3. This new miniseries, spanning four episodes, will be inspired by the zombie episode from Season 1 of “What If…?” It tells the story of the Avengers as they strive to avoid a zombie virus that has transformed some of them into undead supervillains.
7 New Heroes and Villains Joining Marvel Zombies
John Walker

Since making my debut in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” within the MCU last year, I’ve had the privilege of taking on a pivotal role in this season’s “Thunderbolts.” Now, it seems that I’ll be gracing the screens once more, this time stepping into the zombie-infested world of “Marvel Zombies,” where I’ll have the opportunity to bring my unique blend of shield-wielding, super-powered justice to the forefront in the midst of a terrifying apocalypse.
Baron Zemo

On Nexus Point News’ “Marvel Zombies” list, the character played by Daniel Brühl in “Captain America: Civil War”, Baron Zemo, appears. Since his last appearance in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier“, it might be exciting to imagine him wandering through a post-apocalyptic landscape, either as a zombie or not.
Namor

In 2022, Tenoch Huerta debuted as Namor in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” and will reappear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe next year in “Avengers: Doomsday.” Fans might catch a glimpse of what this hero from Talokan would appear like if he were on the Avengers’ team during a battle, hinted in the upcoming “Marvel Zombies.
Melina Vostokoff

Following her absence in May’s “Thunderbolts”, fans speculated if Rachel Weisz’s character Melina Vostokoff (the Black Widow agent) would resurface again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, it seems we might be getting some answers, as she was also mentioned on the latest “Marvel Zombies” update.
Thor

Considering the impressive lineup of well-known Avengers in Marvel Zombies, it seems quite logical that Chris Hemsworth’s Thor might also feature in the series. With Thor reportedly set to be a main character in Avengers: Doomsday, this could serve as an exciting prelude leading up to the MCU’s 2026 team-up.
Valkyrie

Currently, it’s common to see Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie tagging along with Thor. So, if you spot Chris Hemsworth’s Asgardian in the upcoming animated series, it’s a good bet that the new Queen of Asgard, Valkyrie, will also make an appearance.
Black Panther

The name at the bottom of this new document is Black Panther. Whether it refers to Shuri’s Black Panther from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” or T’Challa, as depicted in the initial “Black Panther” film, remains uncertain. If it’s indeed Shuri, introducing her character in an Avengers scenario could add an exciting twist, given that Letitia Wright’s character is also slated to appear in “Avengers 5”.
