MCU star addresses Avengers: Doomsday return after 3-year absence

Although Avengers: Doomsday isn’t out until December, excitement for the movie is building. Recent teasers showing familiar heroes like Captain America and Thor have fueled the anticipation.

The latest Marvel movie, the 39th in the series, has a huge cast including stars like Pedro Pascal, Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddleston, Ian McKellen, and, notably, Robert Downey Jr.

Many fans are also hoping to see Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie join the project.

I was so glad to see Valkyrie pop up in The Marvels! It was brief, but awesome seeing her help Captain Marvel and take those Skrull refugees back to New Asgard. It’s been a while since we’ve really seen her, so even that little cameo was great.

In a recent interview on The Playlist‘s Bingeworthy podcast, Kate Thompson was asked about potentially appearing in Doomsday. While she didn’t say yes, she also didn’t rule it out.

“Oh, [I’m] not able to confirm anything,” Thompson told the podcast.

Thompson readily shared that she’s always open to showing more of Valkyrie’s personality and story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Thompson enthusiastically agreed, adding that the best part of working within the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the opportunity to collaborate with so many talented people. This includes the skilled artists who build these worlds, the fantastic directors who bring them to life, and the amazing actors and crew.

Marvel movies offer a lot of room for different moods and styles. You can really blend drama and comedy and explore a wide range of possibilities.

“And I just love the character so much that I would always be interested. For sure.”

Avengers: Doomsday is released in cinemas on 18 December 2026.
