McLeod’s Daughters star Matt Passmore shares heartbreaking tribute to ex-girlfriend and co-star Rachael Caparni following shock death

Actor Matt Passmore, from Australia, shared a heartfelt message remembering his ex-girlfriend, Rachael Carpani, who starred in McLeod’s Daughters and recently passed away at the age of 45.

On Tuesday, Matt, 51, posted a picture of Rachael on social media with a short message.

He said goodbye to his friend, sending all his love to the Carpanis, their friends, and family. He added that the greatest gift they gave him was simply letting him know them.

Rachael and Matt began dating after meeting on the set of McLeod’s Daughters in 2006, but they broke up in 2011.

I was absolutely devastated to see Matt’s post. Not only did he share the news about Rachael – that she passed away on December 7th – but he also included a message from her family. It just broke my heart even more, knowing they were letting everyone know themselves. It was such a touching thing for him to do, honestly. I’m still reeling from it all.

Tony and Gael Carpani sadly announced the passing of their daughter, Rachael Carpani, a well-loved Australian actress. She died peacefully after a long and difficult illness, and her death was unexpected.

‘The family requests privacy at this very difficult time and will be making no further statements.’

US based Australian actress Poppy Montgomery messaged Matt her condolences on his post.

I’m absolutely devastated! They were such a radiant, incredible talent and just a genuinely beautiful person. I’m sending all my love and prayers – I can’t even begin to imagine the loss. It feels like a piece of my heart is gone. ❤️

One friend messaged, ‘You’re too young! Sorry, Matt,’ and another simply wrote, ‘Rest in peace, beautiful woman.’

Rachael is most famous for playing Jodi Fountain on the popular TV show McLeod’s Daughters, where she starred for eight years, from 2001 to 2009.

In 2007, she received nominations for both the Silver Logie (for most popular actress) and the prestigious Gold Logie award.

In 2011, she moved away from Australia with her boyfriend, Matt, hoping to become an actress, but they split up later that same year.

She acted in a number of films, including “The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee,” “Hating Alison Ashley,” and “The Way Back.”

Her most recent acting role was last year on the Australian soap opera Home and Away, where she played Claudia Salini, a character known for being a villain.

Oh my gosh, I was SO worried about Rachael back in 2021! She suddenly had this terrible stomach pain and had to go to the hospital. She said herself she ended up spending a few days in the ICU, which just broke my heart! I was glued to social media waiting for updates, it was awful!

‘Was then moved to the surgical ward,’ she said.

I pretty much ignored the warning signs my body was giving me – I often push through pain – and ended up getting seriously sick.

This is a reminder, particularly for women who often prioritize others and neglect their own health due to lack of time or other commitments, to pause and pay attention to your body’s signals.

Rachael shared that she spent Valentine’s Day in the hospital, posting a picture of herself in her bed with a bouquet of flowers.
