McDonald and Dodds’ Jason Watkins announced for new TV project
As a gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in historical strategy games, this news about Jason Watkins‘ new documentary series is like leveling up to a whole new dimension! I can hardly contain my excitement, especially since I’ve been following his narration on Channel 5’s Inside the Tower of London.
McDonald & Dodds star Jason Watkins has landed his own documentary series over at Channel 5.
The actor is all set to spearhead a three-part series for the broadcaster, during which he will explore the historical background of the Tower of London. He aims to uncover the facts behind legends surrounding this fortress and share thrilling discoveries about how his ancestors were linked to the Tower.
Every special program will feature Watkins, who has been narrating Channel 5’s “Inside the Tower of London” since 2016, along with historical expert Tracy Borman. Together, they delve into the rich 1000-year history of the Tower and its significance across the ages.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the official synopsis unveils an exciting journey ahead! In the first special, we delve into my own personal connections with the legendary location, and more importantly, we explore one of the most intriguing mysteries in British history – the disappearance of two young princes under King Richard III’s watch. The duo will unravel this enigma, shedding light on events that have long puzzled historians.
They’ll examine the evolution of the Tower throughout the centuries, focusing on its construction and significant transformations. Moreover, they will delve into the influence of two prominent British queens, Anne Boleyn and her mother Elizabeth I, who left indelible marks on history.
The first among the trio, named “Jason Watkins and the 9-Day Queen,” is scheduled for broadcast on Channel 5 and My5 this coming winter season.
In a statement, Watkins shared that after spending seven years as the voice of “Inside The Tower of London” on Channel 5, this upcoming documentary series will mark his deepest and most personal connection with the Tower of London to date.
“I was blown away with the unexpected discoveries and I can’t wait to see them play out on screen.”
Jason Watkins and The 9 Day Queen is set to air on Channel 5 and My5 this winter.
