WARNING: SPOILERS ahead for Mayor of Kingstown season 4, episode 7.
Season 4, episode 7 of Mayor of Kingstown, titled “My Way,” delivers another intense and surprising installment of this already captivating crime series. Each week, the show continues to expertly build suspense and keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
Last week’s episode was a standout, and this week, S4E7 reveals Merle Callahan’s detailed plan to escape Ad Seg and Anchor Bay prison completely. At the same time, we learn that Warden Nina Hobbs isn’t the villain she seems, but is being controlled by a Colombian cartel and their dangerous enforcer, Cortez. Cortez is now hunting for the informant who exposed their drug smuggling operation inside the prison – and Kevin should be careful!
It seems Frank Moses didn’t order the hit on Bunny; the evidence points to Lamar, who may have been manipulated by the cartel. However, Mike still has Moses in a vulnerable position, using him to try and negotiate with Evelyn for Kyle’s return.
In a shocking turn of events, Ian faked Robert’s death after Mike wouldn’t let him rejoin the Kingstown Police Department. Seeing Robert as a dangerous liability who knew too much, Ian eliminated him to protect himself and Mike, hitting a new low in his already corrupt career. Meanwhile, CO Breen is increasingly unstable and seems likely to explode in a violent way before the season ends.
Callahan Is Gunning For Mike After Escaping Anchor Bay

As soon as he was released from solitary confinement, Callahan quickly arranged a transfer out of prison, using Anchor Bay’s procedures. He may have even managed to get Kyle released with him, but Mike persuaded Nina to move Kyle back to the general population, which would have further complicated the McLuskys’ already substantial debt to Anchor Bay.
Callahan seems to have noticed Cindy’s interest in Kyle, and might already understand how important she is to Mike. This episode showed us Cindy’s children, and Kyle warned her to avoid Mike because he tends to hurt people who try to help. Based on this, I think Callahan is planning to target Mike by first focusing on Cindy.
Callahan might try to hurt Mike by targeting his wife, Tracy. The disheartening conversation Tracy had with Mike in episode 5 – where she expressed doubt in his ability to fix things – could be a hint that she’ll become another person harmed by Mike’s choices, despite his attempts to do what he thinks is right.
As Nina becomes more relatable and Frank is increasingly blamed, Callahan has quietly become Mike’s greatest danger in season 4 of MoK. While the unpredictable Cortez is always a threat, Callahan is more insidious – like the carbon monoxide that killed Robert, a hidden and silent killer.
Mike’s Plan To Betray Frank May Lead To His Downfall

It’s obvious Lamar has other loyalties besides Frank, and whoever he’s really working for is a mystery. This puts Mike’s plan to sacrifice a key ally – one of his most valuable people alongside Ian and Bunny – in serious jeopardy. It would be ironic, considering Mike is always creating problems while trying to fix them, if his plan ended up hurting him the most.
Since Kyle went to prison, Mike has become much more impulsive, reckless, and desperate than we’ve ever seen before. Both he and Ian have hit rock bottom, turning against their own group and becoming truly ruthless. Mike used to try to justify his actions, balancing what was right with what he felt was necessary, but now he’s abandoned any pretense of morality and is spiraling out of control.
Bunny’s complete faith in Mike will likely cause serious problems for her, and will also be a betrayal of Frank. Even if they manage to lock Frank up in Anchor Bay, he won’t be easily contained. Like Callahan, Frank is dangerous, intelligent, and far more experienced than both Mike and Bunny.
In the upcoming episode of Mayor of Kingstown season 4, Mike believes he’s close to defeating his main rival, but many challenges remain. He doesn’t know about all of them, and at least one opponent is already planning several steps ahead.
