Mayor of Kingstown Season 4 Episode 4 Review: Jeremy Renner’s Crime Thriller Is A Must-Watch

WARNING: SPOILERS ahead for Mayor of Kingstown season 4, episode 4.

The latest episode of Mayor of Kingstown, titled “Sins of Omission,” keeps the show moving forward with a gripping and deliberate pace. Many viewers and critics now believe this crime thriller is becoming one of the greatest ever made, and each new episode reinforces that idea.

What I really love about this show is that it doesn’t rely on a single villain. Instead, each character seems to have their own personal obstacle, and these conflicts are so cleverly plotted – almost diabolically so! For example, Callahan becoming friends with Kyle in Ad Seg isn’t just a nice moment; it actually makes him a surprising help to the new warden, Nina Hobbs. And even though she might say otherwise, it’s clear she’s determined to undermine Mike’s power in Anchor Bay, and she’ll do whatever it takes to get it done.

I’ve been watching this whole situation unfold, and it’s fascinating – and a little scary. Frank Moses has really taken Bunny under his wing, becoming her guide on the streets, but I can’t shake the feeling that he’s actually after Mike. It’s a shame, because Evelyn’s story has turned Ian and Robert into the villains, and it just proves that in Kingstown, trying to do the right thing gets you nowhere. And honestly, the color of Callahan’s jacket feels eerily similar to the blue of a police uniform, like the lines between good and bad are completely blurred.

Even Cindy, the new character and Mike’s love interest this season, is a target for the dangerous CO Breen – the same man who attacked Kyle’s wife, Tracy, last season. He’s sure to cause trouble soon, and the strange events at Tracy’s house – like the open window and car alarm at the beginning of the episode – might have been his doing.

After the dramatic events of episode 3 in Mayor of Kingstown season 4, the prison environment becomes increasingly tense. Raphael’s attempt to eliminate Roberto Cruz, who has ties to a cartel, creates further unrest. This situation benefits Mike, as he aims to disrupt Anchor Bay as a way to get back at Nina. However, it could be problematic for Bunny’s informants within the prison, particularly the worried corrections officer Kevin, who discovers how Colombian drug smugglers – including Deputy Warden Torres – are getting drugs inside.

Story, Tension & Stakes Reach New Heights In This Masterful Crime Thriller

Mike, along with his close team – Ian, Robert, and Kyle – are all facing difficult situations in the current season. This creates a lot of suspense in the latest episode. When Mike learns Kyle has been living near Callahan, he realizes this was a calculated plan to put Kyle in danger and decrease his chances of escaping Anchor Bay safely.

Evelyn and Kevin are the most genuinely good people on the show, which unfortunately makes them prime candidates to die this season. This season is already the darkest and most dangerous one so far, with nearly every important character facing some kind of threat – even if they don’t realize it yet. This is all thanks to brilliant storytelling and character development that have turned this crime thriller into something truly grand.

After four episodes, season 4 of Mayor of Kingstown feels like it’s reaching a critical point, almost like a finale. The show has become tighter and more focused, making it a stronger series overall. The escalating conflicts are leading to unavoidable, violent consequences. This season feels like everything is about to crumble for Mike, potentially causing major and permanent changes in power.

Mayor Of Kingstown Season 4 Makes A Case For Sheridan’s Best-Ever Series

Season 4 of Mayor of Kingstown is consistently getting better each week, and it’s been really engaging to watch so far. With the new characters—especially the staff at Anchor Bay—becoming clearer, we’re starting to understand just how powerful and corrupt the forces Mike is facing this season truly are.

This season, Mike, as the flawed hero of the story, is facing some serious challenges, and I suspect they’ll be even more upsetting than the losses of Evelyn or Tracy. Kyle hasn’t had much chance to develop as a character because he’s been focused on just getting by. However, with so many obstacles stacked against both Mike and, consequently, Kyle, I don’t think they’ll both survive the season.

Ian is likely to be imprisoned, possibly before the end of the current season, which would be a significant turn of events, particularly if Kyle is moved from solitary confinement to the general prison population. Mike is being unusually hard on Kevin, who doesn’t seem cut out for this job. It’s probable that Kevin will be made to take the blame to send a message to Mike and Bunny from Torres. Raphael faces a similar fate, as even a failed attempt to attack Roberto is extremely dangerous given the current tensions.

I’m completely hooked on season 4 of Mayor of Kingstown! It’s become my favorite show currently airing, and I don’t say that lightly. If the season maintains this level of quality for all ten episodes – which is a big ask – it would be amazing to see Taylor Sheridan finally win an Emmy for it.
