Mayfair Witches teases a darker season 2 in an enchanting new trailer
As a devoted fan who has traversed through the enchanting world of Anne Rice’s creations, I eagerly await the return of the mesmerizing saga that is Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches. Having delved deep into the supernatural labyrinth of the Mayfair family in the captivating season 1 finale, I can hardly contain my excitement as we plunge headlong into the tumultuous events of season 2 on January 5, exclusively on AMC and AMC+.
In the captivating teaser for Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches season 2, Lasher remains as he was born and a dark cloud persists over the Mayfair clan, set to air on January 5, only on AMC and AMC+.
Resuming from the gripping climax of the initial season, the second installment will delve into the life of Rowan Mayfair (Alexandra Daddario) post her childbirth, as she grapples with the malevolent force that plagues her lineage – a demonic entity called Lasher (Jack Huston). The series hints at Rowan’s immense powers, and it seems she will be forced to use them – perhaps even against her own son. The trailer suggests that Lasher is rapidly expanding and poses a constant threat towards Mayfair women.
Apart from bringing back actors Daddario, Huston, Hamlin, Chirisa, and Jirrels, the second season of Mayfair Witches will also feature some fresh faces in the form of Thora Birch, Ted Levine, and Ben Feldman.
The series “Mayfair Witches” marks the second installment in AMC’s Anne Rice Universe, joining the critically-acclaimed series “Interview with the Vampire,” which has been renewed for a third season. Additionally, AMC is developing a third show centered around the clandestine order of the Talamasca, first mentioned during the initial season of “Mayfair Witches.
The television show is inspired by Anne Rice’s trilogy of books about supernatural horror and witchcraft titled “The Lives of the Mayfair Witches,” which includes “The Witching Hour,” “Lasher,” and “Taltos.” Certain characters from this series have been seen in Rice’s “Vampire Chronicles” series, but as of now, this hasn’t occurred in any official capacity on the AMC shows.
In the final episode of season 1 of Mayfair Witches, Rowan gives birth to Lasher, who was conceived when Talamasca agent Ciprien Grieve impregnated her. Prior to this, they were in a romantic relationship. However, it’s important to note that while Ciprien is the biological father, he isn’t truly the father figure. The situation serves as a means for Lasher to infiltrate Rowan’s body according to an ancient prophecy, enabling him to reappear physically. This might seem confusing, but it essentially allows Lasher to take over Rowan’s body as per the prophecy.
Mayfair Witches season 2 premieres on January 5 on AMC and AMC+.
