Maya Jama is going back to radio for a special one-time show. She said a particularly important person encouraged her to return to hosting.
Maya Jama, age 31 and the host of Love Island, previously presented a show on Radio 1 on Saturdays. From 2018 to 2020, she also co-hosted the Friday show with Scott Mills and Chris Stark before leaving to focus on other projects.
I’m so excited to share that I’ll be back on the radio! I gave my followers a little sneak peek on Instagram – a quick clip of me at the mic for Rinse FM. It feels good to be returning to my roots and I can’t wait to share what I’ve been working on.
I’m coming out of retirement to do a one-off show on Rinse FM, thanks to someone I really admire! I can’t wait for you to hear it.
The radio host posted a quick video of herself at work, looking stylish in a black long-sleeved shirt, but she kept the identity of a ‘special someone’ a secret.
In May 2020, Maya announced on social media that she was leaving Radio 1. She told her fans that she had made the tough decision not to renew her contract after June.

As you’re aware, I’ve been very busy lately. With so many exciting things happening, I won’t be able to give my weekly radio show the time and attention it deserves. I’ve truly enjoyed my time at Radio 1.
I’m so grateful for the team’s dedication and support over the past two years. It’s been an amazing experience, and I want to thank everyone who watched the show!
We’re thrilled so many people under 35 have been watching our on-demand show on BBC Sounds – you’ve made up the biggest part of our audience every weekend! As the show ends, we wanted to say a huge thank you to all our listeners. We love you all!
In October 2022, Maya landed her most significant hosting role yet, taking over from Laura Whitmore as the presenter of Love Island.
She shared at the time how thrilled she was to be the new host of Love Island, a show she’s always loved watching. She expressed her excitement to meet all the contestants in the villa.
She’s continuing to achieve great things in her career, with her beauty company thriving and reports suggesting she’ll soon appear in a Netflix series. In addition to this, she’s also started a new venture.
Maya is reportedly set to invest in properties to rent out as she works to secure her future.
She’s completely changed career paths, similar to Ed Sheeran and Daniel Radcliffe, in an effort to earn more money.

Singer Ed Sheeran reportedly owns around £70 million worth of property, including an £8.25 million office building in London’s Soho district.
According to a source, Maya is a smart and successful entrepreneur who is careful with her money and won’t spend it frivolously, despite her thriving career.
Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! She’s officially following in the footsteps of my other idols, Ed Sheeran and Daniel Radcliffe, and getting into property! Apparently, she’s buying places to rent out – can you even imagine?! It’s just… amazing. She’s building an empire, and I’m here for it!
This is a smart investment for her, offering a good return and helping her savings increase over time.
The source went on to reveal that her new company was named Penny Property Holdings.
