Maya Jama recently gave fans a health update after having to cancel her appearance at the launch event for Love Island: All Stars, just days before the new series starts on ITV2.
I was so bummed to see that my favorite presenter is really battling the flu! She shared a super honest update on Instagram while traveling to South Africa – a twelve-hour flight, no less! She jokingly admitted she was really feeling awful, and it just felt so relatable and real.
Smiling slightly, she took a selfie before heading to bed, excited for her trip to Cape Town where she’d be hosting Love Island.
Maya shared that she’s been taking vitamins to help her immune system and hopes getting some sunshine will help her feel better.
She used to pass the time on flights by chatting with the flight crew and enjoying alcoholic drinks, but this year she’s choosing a healthier and more relaxed approach.
I suddenly got hit with a really bad flu over the past 24 hours. I’m loading up on Vitamin C and hoping to feel better soon! On to South Africa next!

This news follows quickly after Maya had to cancel her appearance at the Love Island: All Stars press event because she wasn’t feeling well.
Despite her not being there, the discussion panel still took place. Hosted by Elizabeth Day, it included voiceover artist Iain Sterling, past winners Molly Smith and Tom Clare, and producers Mike Spencer and Amanda Stavr, all meeting at Soho House in West London’s Television Centre.
Maya will welcome the contestants on All Star Islanders to the villa before the new season begins next week on ITV2.
Maya seemed thrilled on Sunday afternoon when she posted a selfie to Instagram, announcing she was eager to get back to work on the popular show. She shared that her flight was scheduled for Monday.
Maya’s colleagues were full of compliments for the presenter who is filling in for her on the reality show. This will be the presenter’s third year hosting the series while Maya is unavailable on Monday.
Producer Amanda believes Maya Jama is a natural fit for hosting Love Island. She describes Maya as cool, fun, and attractive, highlighting her genuine enthusiasm for the show and her ability to keep it feeling fresh and modern.
She’s a fantastic presence on the show, and we’re sad she couldn’t join us. However, her passion for the show and her genuine support for the contestants are still very clear.
Mike mentioned he always imagined Maya would have been perfect on the dating show ‘Once Upon a Time.’ He believes she would have been a memorable and popular contestant, calling her ‘great’.
The actress revealed her stunning physique in a gold minidress during a promotional photoshoot on Monday, promising a more glamorous and alluring look for the upcoming season of Love Island: All Stars.

The presenter stunned as she slipped into the sparkling, chainmail gold micro mini dress.
Before the show starts again, Maya revealed she’s already planning her signature outfits for when she chats with the contestants around the fire pit.
She said the outfits for the event aren’t completely decided yet, but she promises they’ll be as glamorous and revealing as people expect.
The Love Island: All Stars cast has now been confirmed.
Millie Court, 29, won the ITV2 show in 2021 with her then-boyfriend, Liam Reardon. She’s back after the couple officially broke up in September, ending their complicated relationship.
She’s joined by Jess Harding, another winner from the 2023 season who took home £50,000. However, her relationship with her boyfriend, Sammy Root, didn’t last, ending just two months after they left the show.
Whitney Adebayo, age 28, almost won the competition the same year she and Lochan Nowacki finished as finalists. However, to everyone’s surprise, the couple broke up in 2025 after two years together, and the split was reportedly contentious.
Ronan Keating’s son, Jack, is heading back to the reality show Love Island. The 26-year-old previously appeared on the show in 2022 but didn’t find a romantic connection.
Helena Ford, 29, is back after being eliminated from the show following a split with her ex-boyfriend, Harry Cooksley. She’s returning shortly after leaving the villa in Mallorca.

Following on from last summer’s series, Tommy Bradley, 22, is joining former co-star Helena.
Remember Charlie Frederick from Love Island back in 2018? He’s returning to the villa, and he used to date another contestant, Lucie Donlan.
Belle Hassan, 27, is back, and she’s notable for being one of the first Love Island contestants to come from a famous family. She first appeared on the ITV2 dating show previously.
I’m so excited for Jess Harding! After winning Love Island with Sammy Root last year, things sadly didn’t work out for them long-term. But she’s heading back to the villa hoping to find lasting love again, and I’m really rooting for her this time around!
Sean Stone, a 26-year-old salesman, and Leanne Amaning are returning to the villa for another opportunity to find love.
Rounding out the cast is Ciaran Davies, age 23, who was the second-place finisher in 2024 with his then-partner, Nicole Samuels. He’ll be teaming up with Shaq Muhammad, 27, in the upcoming season.
