Maya Jama had to explain herself after her boyfriend, Ruben Dias, accidentally showed a private, intimate photo on his phone.
A photo of the Manchester City player’s girlfriend, Maya, 31, wearing a revealing sheer outfit appeared in a screenshot from an Instagram Story.
Above her was written ‘sex’ along with the date, February 27th.
People believed Ruben, age 28, had unintentionally revealed something very personal about their relationship, and they messaged Maya to point it out.
The Love Island host quickly explained that when Ruben said ‘sex,’ he actually meant ‘Friday’ in Portuguese.
The Sun reported that someone messaged her saying they mistakenly believed he was planning to have sex with them on their date, writing: ‘I thought he was like I’m sexing this one on this date!!!’
Maya and Ruben initially connected at the EMA Awards in 2024, and a few months afterward, they were seen traveling together in Italy.
The presenter has been traveling to and from South Africa recently to film the latest season of Love Island.
Maya recently shared with her fans that she’s currently living in the UK solely for her partner, Ruben.
Maya shared on Instagram that she feels like a better person when she’s traveling outside of England.
I believe everyone enjoys a walk, and I personally love bike rides. However, I felt uneasy biking or walking alone for extended periods in England.
‘All the signs are leading to she needs to live in a warm country.’
She added: ‘If you think about it, technically my jobs are all abroad anyway.’
Maya explained in her video that she doesn’t plan to leave England anytime soon, but her only reason for being there is her boyfriend.
It was obvious the celebrity missed her boyfriend, as she later posted a photo wearing a Manchester City jersey with his number, 3.
Maya Jama became the host of Love Island in 2023, replacing Laura Whitmore, and it seems she’ll continue in the role for the foreseeable future.
Sources say the popular contestant has agreed to return for another season, just after finishing the latest All Stars series.
A source told The Sun that Love Island producers are very happy Maya will be returning to Majorca this summer, as she’s a key part of the show.
‘She remains one of the most-loved things about the show.’
Daily Mail has contacted both Maya and ITV’s representatives for a comment.
