Loading and Storage Optimization Plan

During the past 2.5 years, the GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE team has consistently strived to offer our Commanders a wealth of fresh and thrilling content. This includes novel events, visual enhancements, mini-games, melodious tracks, and powerful new adversaries. To ensure an ever-engaging experience, we’ve focused on introducing new content instead of repeating old ones.

Yet, consistently augmenting available resources is leading to increased pressure on storage capacity and slower load speeds.

In any real-time game you play, we’re constantly refining the system to make it run smoother. Our dedicated team has been tirelessly working to boost performance. However, we’ve preferred to keep our optimization work under wraps because the impact of these improvements can differ significantly based on the specific device being used. Given the diverse landscape of mobile devices, it’s challenging to guarantee similar enhancements for everyone or explain them in a way that fits all situations.

In our latest updates, the scale of our optimization work has become quite expansive, leading us to believe it’s high time we openly discuss our current actions.

We’re sorry for the hold-up in our communication, as we were aiming to present a firm, effective strategy before sharing any updates. Here’s a glimpse of what we’ve been developing so far:

Or more concisely:

We apologize for the delay; we wanted a robust plan ready before announcing anything. This is a sneak peek at our current work.

As an ardent fan, I’m excited to share that we’re working diligently to rectify the issue causing the black screen upon game launch by June. Moreover, we anticipate significant improvements in load times. On both mobile and PC platforms, you can expect a reduction of at least 27 seconds, with potential enhancements surpassing the 141-second mark.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed some significant delays when it comes to asset downloads during stages 5 and 7. Good news! The first phase of improvements was launched in May and has already reduced load times by a cool 3-6 seconds. Excitingly, we’re aiming to roll out another round of enhancements in November, so get ready for an even smoother gaming experience!

We are making efforts to rectify the issue with delays in the lobby (Stage 2/2) by approximately mid-July, offering a partial resolution.

Regarding storage space, we’re diligently working to reduce the overall game size by half, ensuring we maintain high visual quality. Looking ahead, our strategy involves a comprehensive restructuring, utilizing segmented resource management to prevent substantial file growth with upcoming updates.

To all Commanders who’ve encountered these problems, we genuinely apologize. Our top priority is providing you with tangible in-game improvements that you can notice directly. Crucially, we’re refining our internal development methods and hiring new team members dedicated solely to optimization. This is to guarantee continuous enhancements. Thank you for your patience. We’re working tirelessly to provide a smoother and more stable gaming experience for you.

Notice on Gameplay Content

Union Raid Hard Mode Convenience Improvements

Starting from May 30th, the new Union Raid season will allow simultaneous access to all bosses instead of unlocking them one at a time. This update will give players the freedom to choose their preferred order of play, aiming to enhance the overall experience and satisfaction for all commanders.

Coordinated Operation Content Improvements

(a.k.a Coordinated Operation 2.0)

We can’t wait to give you the latest news about Coordinated Operation 2.0! This new version offers two unique playing modes tailored for various gaming preferences.

Initially, there’s Normal Mode tailored for Commanders seeking a less formal, swift-moving gaming style. This mode incorporates Auto-Battle, and when the damage reaches Stage 9, the boss will autonomously activate its immediate demise pattern – no need for canceling mechanics. We aim to make Coordinated Operations more accessible and enjoyable for those aiming to clear content expeditiously.

Following is the Challenge Mode, designed for commanders seeking a more challenging and skill-based encounter. In this mode, Auto-Battle won’t be available, and the boss’s instant-death sequence will only activate if players fail to intervene. The gameplay closely resembles the original Coordinated Operations, but with additional elements to increase the tension.

One significant improvement includes an idleness elimination mechanism: if players don’t participate in the fight for a predefined duration, they will be automatically kicked out. We aim for this function to make it easier to discern between Normal and Challenge Modes, enabling those with similar gaming habits to engage in Coordinated Operation even more seamlessly.

We’re also implementing a reporting function within Challenge Mode. If players behave in manners contrary to the intended design of the mode and accumulate several reports, they may be temporarily barred from using it until specific requirements are fulfilled.

We aim to alleviate the stress linked to matchmaking and gameplay within Coordinated Operation by making it evident that there are separate modes for Normal and Challenging experiences.

We’re making some changes to the Coordinated Operation incentive system too. At the moment, the goods in the Recycling Shop haven’t been enticing enough for players to stay involved. To enhance this, we’ll introduce new items related to equipment and upgrade credits as rewards. You can obtain these through a fresh currency that can be earned based on Coordinated Operation rankings. But rest assured, Broken Cores, our current currency, will continue to be utilized to ensure a smooth gaming experience for you.

As a gamer, it’s awesome to know that this fresh currency isn’t confined to particular levels; you can grab it regardless of where you stand in the game world. This opens up numerous chances for me to upgrade my gear and take on new challenges!

Previously planned for a third-quarter rollout, Coordinated Operation 2.0 is coming earlier than expected and will debut in June. We’re excited for you to give it a spin!

Introduction to the Surface Content

We would like to give you a brief introduction to the upcoming Surface Content.

As a gamer, stepping into the immersive 3D landscape of Surface Content feels like a breath of fresh air compared to traditional battlefields. Though squad formation and movement may seem reminiscent of Campaign missions, the unique twist lies in navigating through hexagonal tiles one at a time. Scattered across this expansive map are intriguing exploration elements that catch my eye – details hinted at in the captivating preview images featured in this Developer’s Note.

Because Solo Raid offers an intense combat encounter, the battles on the Surface will instead be simulation-focused, intended to minimize tension. We strive to provide players with a new method of entertainment using their Nikkes, by employing intelligent squad configurations and tactical placement, rather than solely relying on high combat difficulty.

Furthermore, encounters with both Lord-type adversaries and Boss Raptures will incorporate area specific features, providing additional tactical hurdles that require basic control skills and cooperative strategies. The Lord-class Raptures will debut alongside the release of Surface Content, while Boss Raptures will be introduced in subsequent updates.

Apart from utilizing this fresh area for major purposes, we’re excited to introduce small-scale gatherings and brief updates as well, offering additional reasons to stay engaged. To ensure these updates are seamless and adaptable, we’ll maintain a simpler narrative structure in the content on a broader scope.

Currently, we’re nearing completion of the Rapture battles for the Lord-class level. After additional internal evaluations, we’ve opted to spend a little extra time refining the tactical elements. We apologize for any inconvenience, but our goal is to deliver an immersive Surface Content that matches your expectations in terms of quality and gameplay.

Notice on Improvements of Convenience

Direction for Improving Daily Playtime

We want to let you know about some enhancements coming up to make your gaming experience even better. Although we made tasks easier back in January, we still see opportunities for further improvement in daily gameplay. With new content being added, we anticipate that playtime might increase. Our aim is to ensure that playing the game remains manageable and enjoyable, even as it expands.

So far, we’ve been brainstorming various options, but no decisions have been made just yet. However, we thought it would be helpful to share our current leaning. As soon as we firm up the plans, we’ll promptly provide you with the particulars and a timeline for implementation.

Addition of Bulk Purchase Function in the Shop

In June, we’re introducing an updated shopping system where players can buy several items together, rather than purchasing them separately. Imagine it as a shopping cart that allows you to collect all the items you want before checking out. This change aims to minimize the inconvenience of tapping and buying each item one by one in our event or content shops. We hope this new feature streamlines your shopping experience for your convenience.

Regarding the Launch of the Chinese Version

To wrap things up, let me pass along some exciting news about GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE. As of May 22, this game has officially debuted in China. Given the substantial differences between its initial release and the global version, it will operate independently on a distinct build with specific regulations. This means there may potentially be storyline spoilers due to the approximately 2.5 years gap, yet at the same time, it opens up possibilities for introducing exclusive and complementary features.

It’s clear that some might wonder why certain new costumes and convenient features are debuting only in China, and we empathize with those sentiments. However, we think that each version, China and Global, will evolve independently under unique conditions and situations. Eventually, we believe these differences will add richness to both. For now, please understand that we’re currently in the midst of this enhancement process.

Given the distinct settings we find ourselves in, it’s only natural for variations in updates to occur. Yet, we aim to provide feedback and guidance as we progress, ensuring our journeys converge towards a brighter future for all iterations. In terms of loading enhancements, we’re currently focusing on multiple global launches and upgrades that will be detailed in forthcoming developer updates.

We’ll consistently prioritize our efforts towards the worldwide edition, aiming to further enhance its strength concurrently with the domestic version.

As an ardent fan, I humbly request your assistance in supporting the Chinese version of our beloved game, NIKKE. By doing so, we can expand the global network of commanders, fostering connections and showering even more affection on this fantastic world.

Closing Remarks

To be honest, preparing this Developer’s Note has been a time of deep reflection.

Reflecting on the debut of the Chinese version, I’ve been pondering quite a bit about how two distinct editions can coexist within a single universe. I’ve also given thought to persistent issues such as load times and storage capacity, the unveiling of new Surface content, and our inability to meet the initial release date. In retrospect, each of these aspects has been a significant concern for me as a developer.

Regardless of how thrilling the fresh content turns out or the numerous enhancements we make, it’s always our human audience who we remember the most. That’s what lingers in our minds the most. It’s the reason why delays can be so agonizing and why we are so dedicated to compensating your patience with substantial outcomes.

That same mindset applies to the collaboration project we have been working hard on.

The partnership between THE VICTORY GODDESS: NIKKE and Stellar Blade initially came with a sense of apprehension and high expectations. Despite both games having a similar theme and being produced by the same studio, Shift Up, we were cautious not to rush things. Our concern was that if they didn’t harmonize well, it could negatively impact the unique charm of each game.

Initially, we persisted in collaborating. As time passed, we uncovered that they had a comparable emotional essence, and we forged a sincere bond. All hope wasn’t lost, as it turned out to be possible.

With all the hard work put into it, we’re confident that Commanders will appreciate the outcome – something we’ve grown to be very proud of, which started out as an uncertain endeavor.

This is not just about the Stellar Blade collaboration.

We understand that we’re not flawless, and occasionally, we may stumble. Yet, your presence consistently motivates us to keep pushing ahead.

In keeping with the faith placed in us, our dedicated team persists in crafting the narrative of NIKKE, one sentence after another. Our commitment is to ensure that this tale doesn’t merely reside in your recollections, but deeply touches you as well – resonating within your heart.
