Max releases first look at upcoming horror series Welcome to Derry and The Last of Us season 2
As a seasoned gamer and avid viewer of both TV shows and video games, I must say that Max’s upcoming lineup has sent my heart racing with anticipation! The brief glimpses of “It: Welcome to Derry” and “The Last of Us” season 2 have left me yearning for more.
Following the August 4 airing of the House of the Dragon season 2 finale, Max unveiled a 1 minute and 55 second teaser video showcasing their upcoming lineup of new and returning Max and HBO Original shows. This sneak peek includes an initial glimpse at the much-anticipated series, the It prequel titled Welcome to Derry, and the second season of the Emmy-nominated show The Last of Us.
Max has unveiled a sneak preview as part of his teaser for the complete lineup of original shows scheduled from 2024-2025. Therefore, the brief glimpses we get of “It: Welcome to Derry” and “The Last of Us” season 2 are our first official, proper sneak peeks at each production!
It: Welcome to Derry
The show we’re about to explore begins at approximately 1 minute and 3 seconds into the video. It initiates with a gang of children strolling outside, near train tracks. The scene then transitions to a “Welcome to Derry” sign, which is adorned with Paul Bunyan – a character that fans familiar with the book or movie will recall as being animated by Pennywise in a chilling sequence from It: Chapter 2.
Further glimpses reveal a sequence of scenes depicting various characters in distress, possibly at the hands of Pennywise. Additionally, there’s an unsettling snapshot of a woman grinning, reminiscent of a clown, from behind a shop window covered in glass. A red balloon’s reflection can be seen within this scene.
The Last of Us season 2
In the second season teaser of “The Last of Us,” starting at the 1:17 mark, we delve into the aftermath of the events from the first season, where Joel manages to escape with Ellie after annihilating the Fireflies. Here, for the first time, we meet Catherine O’Hara, who seems to be probing Joel about the truth surrounding what occurred in Salt Lake City. As of now, specifics about her character are still under wraps.
In other places, Ellie grapples with survivor’s guilt. Furthermore, we briefly meet two crucial characters: Kaitlyn Dever portrays Abby and Jeffrey Wright embodies Isaac Dixon. Interestingly, Wright played Isaac in the video game “The Last of Us Part II“. The remainder of the clip mostly hints at the terrifying events we might encounter in the upcoming season.
Currently, you have the opportunity to rewatch the initial season of “The Last of Us”. Meanwhile, both “It: Chapter One” and “It: Chapter Two” can be rented or bought, but unfortunately, they’re not available for streaming on Max. Interestingly, “It: Chapter One” is accessible on Tubi instead.
