As a fan who has followed The Wanted’s journey for years, it’s heart-wrenching to see Max facing another challenging phase in his life. Having battled alcoholism and now dealing with heart issues, it’s clear that Max is a fighter who never gives up. His strength and resilience are truly inspiring.

On Thursday, Max George took to Instagram to send a loving birthday message to his mom, Barbara, all the while getting ready for an upcoming open-heart surgery in the hospital.

36-year-old singer from The Wanted shared recently that he would be spending Christmas in the hospital due to needing immediate medical attention after discovering he had an unidentified heart condition and required treatment.

After additional examinations, it was disclosed that Max requires a pacemaker – a tool designed to regulate the heart’s rhythm when it beats too slowly. This need arises due to an identified problem in the lower part of his heart.

After the singer’s health issue became public, his mother shared with TopMob that they were deeply concerned but holding onto hope.

Now, in a heartfelt message for her birthday, he expressed: ‘Happy birthday, dear mom! I can’t imagine life without you. Sending all my love, MTTW. Max with hugs and kisses.’

He added a family snap of himself and his mum posed with his girlfriend Maisie Smith, 23, and older brother Jack.

Last week, Barbara shared with TopMob, while standing outside her house in Swinton, that Max is currently hospitalized and receiving excellent care.

This week, I brought him to the emergency room (ER), where they evaluated him. Currently, he’s in the optimal situation given the circumstances.

He’s deeply appreciative of the good wishes he’s receiving from his fans, and he also has his loved ones – friends and family – by his side.

After Max pleaded with his heart monitor to boost its settings, it seemed to stop functioning, but then a fresh video was posted from his hospital bed on Sunday.

He shared a new video of himself lying in bed while watching his heart rate hand-sized monitor move from 35 to 34 to 38 before he wagged his finger begging, ‘go up!’

The figure fell to 37, and the celestial body hinted that it was seeking some thrill to boost its pulse rate.

He penned: ‘Come on @mancity.. Sort me out will ya?!!’

However, the device then appeared to switch itself off, leaving Max to exhale, ‘Brilliant’.

Referring to his chest while speaking, he mentioned, “It looks like I will be getting a small device implanted here at some stage, and it will definitely be a companion for me.

It seems there’s a problem with a part of my heart, specifically a condition referred to as a blockage. The challenging aspect is determining the cause, as we need more tests before we can identify what led to this issue.

The artist behind “Glad You Came” hinted that he finds his current situation a complete ‘enigma’, even though medical professionals have ruled out certain potential explanations for it.

Max, a man with past struggles with alcoholism, stated: “I haven’t had a drop to drink in nearly five years, so it’s not that. I’ve made significant lifestyle changes.

The truth is quite puzzling, yet it’s this prolonged wait that seems challenging. What I feel most acutely is the passage of time. My pulse, surprisingly calm, remains unusually slow. They’re keeping a constant watch over it, and everyone’s support has been nothing short of extraordinary.

‘But the waiting bit is tough. It’s just one of them things unfortunately. Whatever I get, I’ve got to get on with it. We’re hoping pacemaker, a pacemaker is good.’

Last week, the singer shared he had had a ‘rough day’ in hospital. He said: ‘I’ve had a bit of a rough day today.

This morning, my heart rate unexpectedly slowed down, causing a moment of alarm. However, the fantastic individuals around me were able to gently increase it and bring it back to a steady level, which is wonderful.

Many people, including relatives and friends, are questioning my delay in proceeding with the treatment, but there are numerous tests that must be carried out prior to any action being taken.

I simply need to push through until the end of next week, completing all my tests. Once that’s done, they’ll be fully informed about the best course of action.

Max concluded his message by noting he is determined to stay positive amid the ordeal.

He said: ‘Obviously they’ll be able to do something but it’ll be better doing it with all the information they need. But year, it’s s**** But still here and staying positive.’

In his initial post to Instagram, Max revealed he will be spending Christmas in hospital.

Yesterday, I wasn’t feeling well at all and had to be admitted to the hospital. Sadly, some medical tests revealed there might be some complications with my heart.

As a diligent adherent, I find myself facing an array of further assessments aimed at pinpointing the severity of the issues and identifying the necessary surgical intervention that will help me regain my footing once more.

It seems we’re facing some challenging times ahead for the next several weeks or months… And, truth be told, spending Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t part of my dream scenario!

Once again, I find myself enveloped by an abundance of love and encouragement from my extraordinary partner Maisie, her kinfolk, mine, and my circle of friends. And I can confidently affirm that I am thriving in the most favorable position.

Despite the massive surprise and undoubtedly a significant setback, I’m determined to face this challenge head-on with everything I’ve got! I consider myself extremely fortunate that it was detected early.

I appreciate your understanding as I may share some updates over the next few weeks, as it seems I might be spending quite a bit of time in bed for about a month. There won’t be an overwhelming amount of activities happening.
