Talk show host Maury Povich recently shared some personal details and also criticized people who live fast-paced urban lifestyles.
The 87-year-old TV personality recently shared a look back at three decades of summer memories on Instagram. He’s been open about addressing rumors regarding plastic surgery and wearing wigs. The post featured photos of him, his wife Connie Chung, and their family enjoying summers over the years.
They both live in New York City, but escape to Big Sky, Montana for cooler weather during the summer.
He recently shared a personal update by posting a video on Instagram. He explained that he often gets asked about his summer plans.
For the past three decades, we’ve been coming to Montana – a wonderful state known as Big Sky Country.
Maury Povich, the former talk show host, explained to his nearly 50,000 followers that his family has been visiting the area for years. He also criticized people from cities who started going there during the pandemic.
Povich explained that he and his wife aren’t recent arrivals – unlike many who moved to the area during the pandemic seeking a different lifestyle. They’ve been enjoying life in Northwest Montana’s Flathead Valley for around 30 years, spending about four or five months there each year.
We live in the mountains, about 40 minutes away from Glacier National Park, which I think is the most beautiful park in the country. We really enjoy living here.
I recently introduced my adorable pup, Taxi, to everyone! He was completely wiped out – and honestly, I don’t blame him! He’d been having a blast splashing around in the ponds all day.
Povich explained that he and his family spend about four or five months each year here, and they all really enjoy it. He said this was just a quick glimpse into their summers together, before saying goodbye.
He and journalist Chung have been happily married for more than forty years, since their wedding in 1984. Together, they raised an adopted son named Matthew Jay Povich.
Recently, Povich publicly responded to ongoing speculation that he’s had plastic surgery and wears a hairpiece.
During an April podcast episode of ‘On Par with Maury Povich,’ the TV host finally addressed years of talk about changes in his looks.
When Ricki Lake, a fellow talk show host, asked if he’d ever had plastic surgery, Maury Povich answered honestly: ‘Not at all.’
The former talk show host confessed he had regrets about things he didn’t do in the past, but he always held back from taking action.
Povich also insisted that he does not wear a wig and said his full head of hair is completely real.
‘I don’t know how,’ he said. ‘I mean, even my father’s hair, he lived until 92, it thinned out.’
He continued: ‘My brother’s hair thinned out. My sister has hair like yours, perfect hair.’
Lake discussed the idea of getting better with age, admitting her hair wasn’t flawless but expressing a lot of gratitude.
Not only does she ‘feel good in [her] body,’ she said she is ‘really happy.’
Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe what I just read! Apparently, after losing forty whole pounds, Reneé Lake decided to get a face and neck lift – can you even imagine?! But the best part? She specifically said that was it. No other procedures at all! Seriously, she wanted to set the record straight. I’m obsessed with her honesty!
She had the procedure done during the summer of 2024 and recently discussed what it was like, both on a podcast with Povich and in an interview last month.
She explained that after losing forty pounds, she noticed extra skin around her neck, demonstrating by gently touching the area during an appearance on The Inside Edit on March 16th.
She clarified it wasn’t simply about disliking her appearance or wanting to look younger. She wasn’t bothered by her gray hair, but rather felt like something essential was lost – something that wouldn’t return.
Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe how amazing she looks! She says it’s all down to her routine – seriously, every single day she’s hiking in Malibu. Plus, she does Pilates, and she’s been doing this intermittent fasting thing? It works wonders! And get this… she has a chef who prepares everything following a keto diet for her. I need to try all of it immediately!
This comes after The Maury Show concluded after 31 seasons in late 2022.
Maury Povich, famous for using lie detectors and revealing paternity results on his talk show, has now retired.
He started his podcast in March 2025, hoping to connect with fans on a personal level and build a comfortable environment for conversations with his guests.
He explained that many people appeared on his talk show – which aired from 1991 to 2022, spanning more than thirty years – because they hoped to share their troubles and find some relief.
He said people felt comfortable opening up to him and that they saw him as someone trustworthy to talk to.
He felt like he was treated as one of the family, but he didn’t get a chance to share his own thoughts, feelings, or life story.
Povich also reflected on how he started in news journalism before becoming a talk show host.
For over thirty years, people have known me as someone who talks about specific topics on talk shows,” he said.
He described his career as fulfilling, noting his passion for storytelling. He believes his background in journalism and delivering news on traditional talk shows prepared him well for success.
I would never reveal my face if I were presenting the news from a traditional studio. That’s why this format – where I remain unseen – feels ideal.
