Maura Higgins reveals she has prepared for I’m A Celeb in the ‘worst way possible’ as she indulges on pasta and red wine during lavish Vegas trip

As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I must say that Maura Higgins’ approach to preparing for “I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!” is nothing short of unconventional. Instead of acclimating herself to the harsh jungle conditions beforehand, she opted for a last-minute luxury getaway in Las Vegas – quite the opposite of what one might expect!

Maura Higgins disclosed that she hasn’t made any preparations whatsoever for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, as she spent her time enjoying parties in Las Vegas right before her jungle adventure.

On the eve of entering the camp, the well-known figure from Love Island, unveiled as a surprise contestant on ITV’s show on Wednesday evening, has chosen to share insights about themselves.

Maura confessed that she indulged herself with her favorite meals and red wine, knowing she would soon be limited to a diet of rice and beans.

She admitted: “I didn’t make any preparations earlier, it seems I might have made a less-than-ideal choice by indulging in an excess of my favorite foods, drinking copious amounts of red wine, and consuming large quantities of pasta.

‘I probably should have weaned myself off things, but that’s not how my brain works!’

Lately, famous personalities have endured torrential downpours in the wilderness. Maura expressed her conviction that this popular series would prove to be ‘the most challenging experience’ for her since she had never spent a night outdoors camping prior to this.

Regardless, the Irish participant expressed that she was prepared to venture beyond her usual limits since the show felt like an incredibly exciting and surreal experience for her.

She mentioned: ‘I aspire to please myself, and I’m equally thrilled yet anxious, as I fear everything around me.’

Moving forward can be quite intimidating since everyone has already connected and established themselves. Being the newcomer isn’t always a breeze, but I don’t consider myself shy, so I’m optimistic that I’ll manage just fine. It would be great to inject some vitality into the camp.

Maura squeezed in an impromptu high-end vacation to Las Vegas earlier this week, as she embarked on a sponsored journey with cosmetic company Space NK. She was aware that the timing of her arrival in Australia might be tight.

In a luxurious 500-dollar-per-night suite at The Venetian Hotel, Maura found herself accompanied by Stacey Solomon, with both women jetting off to glamorous Las Vegas on a first-class flight, departing on Thursday.

Instead of indulging in lavish mornings with facials and evenings feasting on calamari at Nobu and lobster at the Bellagio, her Australian experience will be quite different, as she’ll be eating a simple diet mainly consisting of rice and beans.

Following Adele’s performance at her Las Vegas residency, the Easy On Me singer took a moment during the show to praise Maura for her striking red outfit. Delighted, Maura spent the rest of the evening partying with friends.

Hinting at the last-minute nature of her upcoming trip Down Under, Maura playfully suggested to followers that she might be jetting off to Australia by sharing an airplane photo accompanied by the question, “Where am I going?

Later, when it was discovered that she had appeared in Las Vegas instead of Brisbane Airport as anticipated, her fans were left in a state of confusion, believing she had prematurely ended her time in the jungle.

But ITV knows she is too good a signing to let go.

In 2019, when she stepped into the Love Island villa with her straightforward, bold personality, the executives at ITV found themselves pleasantly surprised, and the Irish celebrity swiftly gained popularity among fans.

The network likely anticipates a similar strategy from Maura that could bring excitement and dynamism to the I’m A Celebrity jungle, making her an ideal late entrant to stir things up in the camp.

Maura is set to be dumped in the Jungle Junkyard when she makes her show debut this week.

Initially, it was thought that TopMob’s Irish model and fellow newcomer Reverend Richard Coles, aged 62, would be part of the main group in the camp. However, an unexpected turn of events separates this unlikely pair and places them in less than ideal conditions instead.

In stark contrast to the opulent Love Island villa where Maura gained fame, the Jungle Junkyard is filled with unruly vegetation, weathered corrugated metal, and lacks any signs of luxury.

Besides the scarcity of facilities, what makes Jungle Junkyard particularly alarming, as hinted by I’m A Celebrity producers, is that it has a concealed major secret within its basic setup, and latecomers will face additional challenges.

According to reports, Maura and Richard Coles may experience a significant surprise upon entering the Australian wilderness, as they’ll find themselves resting in a rather unsavory junkyard environment.

Maura has moved from the glamorous environment of Las Vegas to a very simple, spartan setup devoid of any comforts or amenities.

However, much like the intriguing nature of “I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here,” not everything appears as it seems. Soon enough, viewers will uncover that the jungle conceals numerous mysteries.

Leaders are keeping a few exciting surprises in store for the approaching series, and it seems the Jungle Junkyard could be concealing the most astonishing secret of them all.

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! continues Tuesday at 9pm on ITV1, STV and ITVX
