Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel Métiers d’Art Debut Is Headed For NYC

Summary

  • Matthieu Blazy will present his Métiers d’Arts collection for Chanel in New York City on December 2, showcasing the artistry of the house’s workshops and honoring Karl Lagerfeld’s final show, which also took place there.

On December 2nd, I’m excited to be showcasing my very first Métiers d’Arts collection right here in the heart of New York City! Following my successful Chanel Ready-to-Wear debut in October, I can’t wait to continue this creative journey.

The upcoming Métiers d’Arts show will highlight the craftsmanship of various Paris workrooms and specialized studios from the French house, as a tribute to Karl Lagerfeld’s last show in 2018, which was held in New York City. This presentation marks Chanel’s first return to the city since the passing of their legendary creative director.

As a gamer, I can’t help but feel a tinge of nostalgia when reminiscing about Karl’s last show for Chanel SAS. But just like flipping on a fresh gaming level, heading back to New York with Matthieu and starting a new season is nothing short of exhilarating! Blazy, taking over from Virginie Viard, promises to channel the creative vibe of the city he’s intimately familiar with, while keeping the exceptional craftsmanship that Chanel is renowned for. Can’t wait to see what lies ahead!

I’ve got quite a bit of history with the Big Apple, having spent years working alongside Raf Simons at Calvin Klein in this bustling city. A recent sneak peek at the upcoming collection pairs a striking double C insignia against an old subway map, suggesting it could be a nod to New York City’s electrifying culture and Karl Lagerfeld’s creative imprint on the brand.

At this moment, Chanel hasn’t disclosed a specific date for their upcoming runway show. Keep checking TopMob for the most recent updates on the world of fashion.
