Matthew Rhys’ new drama blending ‘horror with character-driven comedy’ confirms release date

Matthew Rhys, known for his role in The Americans, is starring in a new TV series that combines scary moments with humor focused on its characters.

Rhys will be the lead actor in the upcoming Apple TV series, Widow’s Bay. The show will have ten episodes and become available to stream next April.

The first three episodes will be released on Wednesday, April 29th, with a new episode airing every Wednesday until June 17th.

Widow’s Bay is a charming, small town located on an island 40 miles from the New England coast. However, a hidden danger lies beneath its peaceful appearance.

Mayor Tom Loftis (played by Matthew Rhys) is working hard to save his town, which is facing tough times. The island has poor internet and cell service, and many residents believe it’s haunted, making his job even harder.

He craves the respect of those around him, but they see him as weak and timid – and unfortunately, they’re right. However, he’s driven to create a better life for his teenage son and transform the island into a place people want to visit. Amazingly, he manages to do it, and tourists finally start arriving.

Sadly, the local people were correct. After many years of peace, the old, unbelievable stories began to come true.

The cast of Widow’s Bay includes Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Carroll, and Dale Dickey.

Rhys is currently acting with Claire Danes in the thriller The Beast in Me, which was a big hit on Netflix last month.

The eight-episode series features Claire Danes as a writer who can’t seem to write after experiencing the loss of her son.

Rhys stars as a fascinating new neighbor with a hidden and troubling history, as he was once suspected of killing his wife.

Widow’s Bay’s premieres on Apple TV on Wednesday 29 April.
