At the 2026 Actors Awards on Sunday, Matthew Rhys playfully messed around as his partner, Keri Russell, instructed him on how to properly fan her dress.
On the red carpet, 51-year-old Welsh actor Matthew Rhys shared a playful moment with 49-year-old Keri Russell. While posing for photos, Keri jokingly directed him to adjust the train of her dress so it looked just right.
Matthew, nominated for his role in “The Beast In Me,” cheerfully interacted with photographers, sharing a laugh as they took his picture.
They looked incredibly glamorous together, and even a small adjustment to their clothes turned into a playful and charming moment that everyone enjoyed watching, showcasing their natural connection.
Keri, a stunning American beauty, looked incredibly elegant in a black, one-shoulder gown. The dress featured a long, flowing train that trailed behind her.
She finished off adding elegant black stilettos and made a statement with diamond pendant earrings.
Meanwhile The Beast In Me actor cut a smart look in a brown suit and matching silky shirt.
The couple first became acquainted on the set of the FX series, The Americans, in 2014 and have been together ever since.
Okay, so things are heating up! I’m seeing that Matthew will be going head-to-head with some seriously talented actors. He’s up against Jason Bateman for ‘Black Rabbit,’ and also Owen Cooper and Stephen Graham who are both in ‘Adolescence.’ Plus, Charlie Hunnam is in the mix with ‘Monster: The Ed Gein Story.’ It’s a really competitive field, but I’m excited to see who comes out on top!
This year, the annual awards show previously known as the SAG Awards has a new name: The Actor Awards. It’s the 32nd year for the event.
The change aims to better reflect the show’s famous statue, ‘The Actor,’ strengthen its brand worldwide, and ensure the focus remains on actors celebrating each other’s work.
Kristen Bell returned as host for the third time, having previously emceed in 2018 and 2025.
The awards ceremony will be streamed live on Netflix and will recognize achievements in film, television, and limited series across 28 categories. Most categories have six nominees, but the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement awards will have eight.
The film ‘One Battle After Another’ received the most nominations with seven, while ‘Sinners’ is a close second with five.
The competition for Best Actor is fierce this year, with strong contenders including Leonardo DiCaprio for his role in One Battle After Another, Timothée Chalamet in Marty Supreme, Michael B. Jordan in Sinners, Ethan Hawke in Blue Moon, and Jesse Plemons in Bugonia.
The competition is fierce for the award for Best Actress, with strong performances from Jessie Buckley in Hamnet, Rose Byrne in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Kate Hudson in Song Sung Blue, and Emma Stone in Bugonia.
Several actors received nominations in supporting categories: Benicio Del Toro and Sean Penn for their work in One Battle After Another, Jacob Elordi for Frankenstein, Paul Mescal for Hamnet, and Miles Caton for Sinners. The award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture highlights the strong teamwork of the casts from films like Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, and Sinners, demonstrating that this awards show still greatly values acting talent.
Television, meanwhile, has its own battleground.
When it comes to comedy, The Studio led the pack with five nominations, proving it’s a popular choice among actors.
I’m so excited that my favorite show is up for an award! It’s nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, and it’s going up against some amazing shows like Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, and Only Murders in the Building. It’s going to be a tough category, but I’m really hoping it wins!
The nominees for best individual comedy acting include Kathryn Hahn, Catherine O’Hara, and Seth Rogen from The Studio, along with Jean Smart (Hacks), Jenna Ortega (Wednesday), Adam Brody (Nobody Wants This), Ted Danson (A Man on the Inside), and Martin Short (Only Murders in the Building).
The drama series category is highly competitive. Nominees for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble include The White Lotus, Severance, The Diplomat, The Pitt, and Landman.
The drama acting awards were given to a talented group of performers, including Britt Lower, Parker Posey, Keri Russell, Rhea Seehorn, Aimee Lou Wood, Sterling K. Brown, Billy Crudup, Walton Goggins, Gary Oldman, and Noah Wyle.
Limited series and television movies continue to prove their awards muscle.
Claire Danes (The Beast in Me), Erin Doherty and Christine Tremarco (Adolescence), Sarah Snook (All Her Fault), and Michelle Williams (Dying for Sex) are all nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series.
Yet no awards season is complete without a little controversy.
A major surprise for many was the omission of Cynthia Erivo from the nominations for her performance in Wicked: For Good, as she was widely predicted to be a contender.
People noticed that Gwyneth Paltrow and Dwayne Johnson weren’t nominated, and some also wondered why there weren’t more actors from outside the US among the nominees.
More cuts, like removing the ‘Sentimental Value’ segment from the film version and ‘Death by Lightning’ from television, sparked even more discussion.
Despite some disappointments, fans were happy to see nominations for Odessa A’Zion for Marty Supreme and Wunmi Mosaku for Sinners. This shows the diverse range of talent featured this year.
