Matthew Perry’s stepfather Keith Morrison breaks his silence on the arrest of the Friends actor’s dealers
As I read through this heartbreaking account of Matthew Perry’s untimely demise, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of empathy and sadness. Having battled my own struggles with substance abuse, I understand the vicious cycle that addiction can create.
Keith Morrison, Matthew Perry’s stepfather, has voiced his thoughts following several individuals being taken into custody over the circumstances surrounding the actor’s demise on Thursday.
In October 2023, the actor who played a role on “Friends” passed away at the age of 54, following a sudden impact from ketamine. Five individuals were subsequently indicted for crimes associated with his tragic demise.
As a devoted admirer, I’ve been and remain deeply saddened by the loss of Matthew. Yet, it offers some comfort to know that authorities have given his case the utmost importance and attention.
1. “We eagerly anticipate that the legal process will unfold fairly, and we express our heartfelt gratitude towards all the dedicated teams from various organizations who meticulously probed into Matthew’s unfortunate demise.”
Morrison concluded: ‘We’re hoping unscrupulous suppliers of dangerous drugs will get the message.’
In 1981, Perry’s mom, Suzanne Perry, wed Morrison. The actor acknowledges that his stepfather played a crucial role in mending their family following the difficult divorce of his biological parents.
Suzanne and Matthew’s father John Perry were married from 1968 to 1970.
After the arrests, friends of Perry’s family reported to USWeekly that they were taken aback and disappointed upon learning about the apprehension of Kenneth, Perry’s personal assistant.
As an ardent admirer, let me share some intriguing insights I’ve picked up. You see, after Matthew’s previous aide moved on, there was no immediate replacement for quite some time. Since Matthew wasn’t actively working at that moment, the role primarily revolved around managing his life and ensuring his personal comfort at home.
‘Kenny presented himself to be a decent person.’
Perry’s autopsy findings disclosed in December that his death was due to the immediate impacts of ketamine, and his passing was subsequently classified as an accident.
Thrilled beyond words on a Thursday, I learned that U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada unveiled accusations against none other than the infamous “Ketamine Queen,” Jasveen Sangha, and practicing doctor, Dr. Salvador Plascencia! It’s a surreal moment for an ardent follower like me to see the wheels of justice moving in this captivating case.
As your trusted lifestyle advisor, Ken Iwamasa, I find myself standing before you today with a heavy heart, acknowledging my guilty plea for conspiring to distribute the potent substance known as ketamine. Regrettably, this distribution has led to tragic consequences, resulting in the loss of life.
Furthermore, it’s been disclosed by the Department of Justice that both Erik Fleming and Dr. Mark Chavez are separately implicated in the illegal ketamine distribution scheme, with each facing individual charges related to their respective positions in the case.
The authorities claim that these five people intentionally provided Perry with ketamine, exploiting his dependency on it, and subsequently attempted to conceal their part in the events leading up to his demise following the drug use.
In the autumn of 2023, right before his passing, U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada pointed out that Perry had slipped back into his addictive behaviors.
According to Estrada, at a recent press briefing, these defendants exploited the substance abuse problems of Mr. Perry for their own financial gain.
In May, the LAPD announced they were collaborating with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service on an ongoing investigation.
In the past, I came across information suggesting that my previous wife, Brooke Mueller, was one of several individuals questioned on multiple occasions by the Los Angeles Police Department regarding a tragic incident.
However, she has not been named as one of those arrested, per TMZ.
As a lifestyle advisor, I can share an interesting piece of news: During our shared journey towards recovery, my friend and I developed a strong bond while going through rehabilitation. It’s crucial for me to clarify, though, that I have been unwavering in asserting my complete innocence regarding the unfortunate incident involving my friend’s passing.
The article additionally reveals that a search warrant discovered text conversations about Perry and his desire for ketamine, as well as the amount he was willing to pay for it.
As an ardent fan, I can’t help but share a tidbit I’ve learned: It appears that the ongoing probe has uncovered more celebs linked to the underworld of drugs. Quite a shocking revelation, isn’t it?
Law enforcement officials, including members from the local police department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), spoke with several influential individuals in Hollywood who have a reputation for drug use.
Actor Perry, who is well-loved, was undergoing ketamine treatment, which was prescribed for managing his anxiety and depression issues.
But he had not had one of those treatments for a week-and-a-half prior to his death.
In other words, the ketamine detected in his body following his drowning in his Los Angeles home was not a prescription medication for him.
At 54, Perry astonished the world as an autopsy pointed towards the sudden impact of ketamine as the cause of his demise.
The amount in his blood was in the range used for general anesthesia during surgery.
According to the report, it was determined as the main reason for the unfortunate incident, which was classified as an accident without any signs of deliberate wrongdoing.
The actor had been open about his struggles with substance abuse.
2022 found me confessing that I’d likely shelled out a staggering $9 million to combat my battles with addiction, spread across no less than fifteen stints in various rehabilitation centers.
As a devoted devotee recounting my personal journey, I can attest that I’ve successfully achieved sobriety, a milestone long sought after following numerous unsuccessful attempts.
In time, it was reported to DailyMail.com by unnamed sources that the secluded celebrity was said to arrange casual liaisons through the exclusive dating app Raya, who would allegedly deliver drugs to his residence, despite being under constant supervision by a healthcare team.
Even with a nursing staff at his $6 million Pacific Palisades residence and a full-time sober companion, Perry was able to secretly obtain illicit substances for casual encounters that went unnoticed, according to sources in December 2023.
‘He would meet girls on dating apps and have them come over,’ insiders claimed.
He often encountered groups of individuals aged between 21 and 25 on the dating app, Raya. More often than not, they would carry controlled substances, primarily Oxycontin, a strong opioid pain reliever.
‘He would also get illicit drugs from old girlfriends, there was a kind of network,’ a source said.
On October 28, 2023, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Perry’s death was caused by a fatal ketamine overdose, which was accidental.
The autopsy report indicated he died at the heated section of his swimming pool, though this wasn’t the primary cause of his demise.
The examiner’s report does not specify how or when Perry had consumed the fatal dose of ketamine.
However, traces were discovered in his stomach, and his residence contained prescribed medication and stray pills.
The autopsy didn’t find any evidence of alcohol or drugs like cocaine, heroin, or fentanyl in his body.
In the past, Kayti Edwards – Perry’s former girlfriend and one-time assistant during his battle with drug addiction in 2006 and 2011 – has urged authorities to scrutinize medical personnel to determine if there was a secret arrangement for them to provide ketamine to Perry off-the-books.
The arrest are not the first to be brought in the case of a celebrity’s fatal overdose.
After the demise of Michael Jackson in 2009, his doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray, was convicted for involuntary manslaughter due to administering a fatal amount of propofol to him.
Last year, in 2021, authorities in New York indicted four individuals for allegedly providing actor Michael K. Williams from “The Wire” with heroin adulterated with fentanyl.
