Matthew Perry’s old home narrowly misses being destroyed by LA wildfires as the devastation continues
Matthew Perry’s former residence managed to withstand the Pacific Palisades fire, while the destruction in Los Angeles persists.
In October 2023, the unfortunate passing of a Friends star occurred at their property, and fresh photos suggest that the surrounding area was engulfed by flames, leaving the pool filled with dirt.
In October 2024, Anita Verma-Lallian, the new proprietor who acquired the property through an off-market transaction, verified that the dwelling previously owned by the late Friends star had miraculously remained standing, attributable to the brave efforts of the neighborhood community.
In a post on Instagram on Friday, Verma-Lallian conveyed heartfelt thanks to the valiant firefighters, our wonderful neighbors, and the entire Palisades community for their aid, resilience, and comfort during these difficult days.
Verma-Lallian also shared with People that her real estate agent, Brooke Elliott Laurinkus, played a role in keeping an eye on the property and safeguarding it against any fires during the natural calamity.
In her post, she expressed gratitude towards Laurinkus for providing regular updates on current events and for offering help to those seeking temporary housing during these times.
‘We continue to keep those impacted by this unfortunate event in our thoughts. May we unite to recover, safeguard, and restore what was destroyed. The Palisades will forever hold a significant spot in our hearts.’ – She finished off by saying this.
A year following Perry’s unexpected demise, Verma-Lallian, a movie producer and real estate entrepreneur, bought the property that was once Perry’s home.
The four-bedroom, five-bathroom abode was sold for a whopping $8.55 million, just three months ago.
Based on information from Realtor.com, the property was enclosed by a fire on Wednesday. People living nearby on Blue Sail Drive posted distressing videos of the advancing flame to social networking sites.
The Palisades fire, along with two other extraordinary wildfires, is causing havoc in Southern California. It has burned more than 15,000 acres of land and demolished around a thousand buildings. Currently, many Los Angeles residents are being asked to leave their homes due to evacuation orders.
Fortunately, it didn’t catch fire, even though Cal Fire’s live map indicated that its vicinity was within the ‘fire zone’ earlier this week.
At that point, Verma-Lallian verified through an Instagram Story that she and her loved ones were “secure.” However, she didn’t share any details regarding the condition of their property.
The movie producer expressed gratitude to everyone who contacted them, assuring that their family is secure and waiting for further information. They are keeping hopeful thoughts for those impacted by the wildfires.
Additionally, she shared chilling BBC News clips showing Pacific Palisades houses enveloped in fire, with fierce winds ravaging the disaster-stricken region.
In October 2024, the real estate transaction occurred off-market, where Verma-Lallian from Scottsdale, Arizona, became the new owner of Perry’s spacious 3,500-square-foot mansion.
Previously, she had shared with The Los Angeles Times that she intended to utilize the Pacific Palisades property as a place for relaxation or leisure.
The house that belonged to the deceased ‘Friends’ actor was sold about a year following his death, which occurred on October 28, 2023 when he was 54 years old in the residence’s hot tub.
In 2020, Perry purchased a house situated on a hillside with an ocean view for six million dollars. Before his passing, he underwent a significant renovation of the property, replacing the original light oak flooring with a darker wood and opting for more vibrant colors instead of boho-style furniture.
He often posted pictures of his house, swimming pool, and garden, showing that he had a strong affinity for Batman, as the iconic vigilante was conspicuously displayed throughout his living space.
To be truthful, my latest Instagram post was a snapshot capturing me relishing in the warm embrace of the tub where I later passed away, with the city’s lights shimmering in the background like stars.
The medical examiner determined that his passing was an unfortunate accident, caused by a strong overdose of Ketamine. Interestingly, traces of Buprenorphine, a drug commonly employed for managing opioid dependency, were discovered within his body as well.
Contributing factors in his death were given as drowning and coronary artery disease.
Regardless of whether Perry’s old residence still stands, numerous high-profile figures in Hollywood unfortunately fell victim to the destructive force of the Los Angeles wildfires.
The upscale area of Pacific Palisades has been turned into charred ruins and debris, leaving several famous figures among the list of homeowners who suffered losses.
Among the thousand structures that have fallen victim to the devastating wildfires, I’m deeply saddened to report that the luxurious mansion of my beloved actors Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, valued at $7 million, is one of them.
In 2019, the couple bought a five-bedroom house, however, recent images reveal that it is currently ablaze.
Similarly, actress Anna Faris’ $5 million eco-friendly abode was totally decimated by the blaze.

Previously popular TV chat-show host, Ricki Lake, posted a heartfelt message expressing deep sorrow over the irreplaceable loss she experienced with her cherished house, which she had always envisioned as her dream residence.
In 2014, the lake, who is 56 years old, purchased the property. Her husband, Ross Sussman, and she exchanged vows in their backyard on that property only three years ago.
‘It’s hard to accept, but here I am typing these very words… Our cherished dream house is gone, as Lake put it on Instagram.’
James Woods, an Oscar-nominated actor, posted videos of a house located just two blocks away from his own property, which had been entirely engulfed in flames.
Reality stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag confirmed their home has also been lost.
Pratt, 41, was captured in photos as he watched the rapidly advancing fire move toward his home.
Thankfully, the family of four managed to leave safely before midday, as the fire advanced closer.
Currently, celebrities such as Mandy Moore, Ben Affleck, and Mark Hamill are part of approximately 30,000 individuals who have been asked to leave their homes due to ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.
Sparked by fierce Santa Ana winds, a blaze known as the Palisades fire ignited early Tuesday in the Santa Monica mountain range, and has since become the deadliest and most damaging wildfire ever to occur in the city of Los Angeles.
On Tuesday evening, flare-ups occurred at a distance in Eaton Canyon and the San Fernando Valley, creating havoc that has been unsettling for residents in the cities of Altadena, Pasadena, and Sylmar. I, as a lifestyle expert, urge everyone to prioritize their safety amidst these unpredictable situations. Stay informed, heed any evacuation orders or advisories, and make sure you have emergency kits prepared at hand.
Regrettably, despite their tireless efforts battling fires throughout the night, the firefighters have been unable to halt any of the blazes that have torched more than 25,000 acres of land in Southern California.
As a fanatical follower, I can’t help but share the devastating news: The heartbreaking fires in Los Angeles have claimed over 1,000 structures and, by Wednesday, five precious lives. According to the LA Times, this grim statistic paints a picture of the catastrophic destruction we’re facing.
