Matthew McConaughey details bizarre ‘wet dream’ that resulted in marriage to Camila Alves

Matthew McConaughey credits a vivid dream he had years ago with helping him envision the joyful family life he now shares with his wife, Camila Alves, and their three children.

In his thirties, worried he’d never find a partner, he had a vivid dream that offered guidance on finding the right woman.

The actor, known for his role in ‘Failure to Launch,’ dreamed he was turning 88 and celebrating with his 88 children and the 22 mothers of those children.

Everyone crowded together for a big group photo taken with an old-fashioned large camera, and the moment the picture was snapped, he experienced a climax.

McConaughey, 56, realized he ultimately wanted to be a father. He described receiving a message encouraging him to stop actively searching for the ‘perfect’ woman and instead let things happen naturally – either finding someone, or being found. He shared this insight in his newsletter, Lyrics of Living.

He gave up his search for a wife, and three months later, he met Camila.

Before his relationship with Alves, he had been romantically connected to several famous actresses, such as Penelope Cruz, Sandra Bullock, Ashley Judd, and Renee Zellweger.

I’ve been lucky enough to meet and date some amazing women, and I’m still friends with many of them. But none of those relationships turned into something lasting – they were all temporary, not permanent, connections, as I wrote in my latest newsletter.

I was in my mid-30s and hoping to find a long-term partner – someone who could be a lover, a close friend, and a future mother. I really wanted to find ‘the one,’ the woman I could spend my life with, he explained.

He recounted a vivid dream, explaining that he’d dreamt of his 88th birthday, surrounded by his 88 children, their 22 mothers, and a fleet of 22 cars.

Everyone came together to celebrate at his home in the countryside, and he was happily relaxing on the porch in a rocking chair.

He noted that despite never marrying any of them, each woman seemed peaceful and content. The children were all happy and thriving, always smiling and laughing. ‘We were all very close,’ he added.

He remembered fondly how each mother and their child would snuggle up on his lap. They shared moments of warmth, filled with hugs, kisses, laughter, and even joyful tears, he recalled.

Everyone came onto the porch for a family photo, and we all looked towards the big, old-fashioned camera set up at the end of the driveway. The photographer counted down – ‘Three, two, one!’ – and then it was my turn, McConaughey shared with his followers.

I suddenly realized I was destined to be a lifelong bachelor – it felt like a revelation. It was a sign that I needed to stop actively searching for the perfect woman and instead let things happen naturally, whether that meant finding someone, being found, or remaining single. So, I decided to stop looking altogether, he said.

She arrived, and three months after that, I met Camila. Even after twenty years, she’s the only woman I’ve ever wanted to be with – romantically, intimately, and every morning after.

He began dating Alves in 2006, at age 37, and they later had two children, Levi, now 17, and Vida, 15, while they were engaged.

They got married in June 2012, and six months later, their son Livingston was born. He’s now twelve years old and their youngest of three children.

Matthew McConaughey suggests in his new book, Poems & Prayers, that couples can improve their marriage by downsizing from a king-size to a queen-size bed.

He shared the reason behind the new product during a September interview, explaining that he’d seen families with young children comfortably sharing a large, combined king-size bed at a friend’s house, as reported by Fox News Digital.

The couple each have their side of the bed, and it’s wonderful when all three kids are still small enough to share it with them. But eventually, the kids grow up and start sleeping in their own beds, as the actor explained.

I woke up one morning and realized Camilla was really far away from me – it felt like a football field separated us! Then, at night when I wanted to cuddle, he’d say, “We can’t just snuggle close. You come halfway, and I’ll come halfway.”

He said having a large king-size bed was actually hurting his marriage. He suggested switching to a smaller queen-size bed so they could sleep closer together, believing it would improve their relationship.
