Matthew Goode and Michael Sheen join stacked cast of “unforgettable” World War II spy adventure

Okay, so I just heard the cast list for this new WWII spy movie called *Fortitude*, and it’s stacked! They’ve already started filming in London, which is awesome. We’re talking Nicolas Cage – yeah, *the* Nicolas Cage from *The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent* – alongside Matthew Goode from *Downton Abbey*, Michael Sheen who I loved in *Good Omens*, and even Ben Kingsley! Plus, Alice Eve from *Belgravia* and Ed Skrien who was in *Rebel Moon* are joining the team. Seriously, this cast is insane, I can’t wait to see it!

Joining the cast are Art Malik, Lukas Haas, Adrian Topol, Emilio Sakraya, and Paul Anderson.

The movie tells the story of British intelligence officers Dudley Clarke and Thomas Argyll Robertson, who devised clever plans to mislead the Nazis during the war. These included spreading false information about troop and weapon locations.

The team relied on a network of double agents, most notably Dusko Popov, a charismatic Yugoslavian who betrayed his country. He was so intriguing that he actually inspired Ian Fleming’s creation of the James Bond character.

Simon West, known for directing films like *Lara Croft: Tomb Raider*, *The Expendables 2*, and *Con Air* (in which Nicolas Cage appeared), directed this movie. The screenplay was written by Simon Afram, who also produced it.

Afram expressed enthusiasm for the cast, saying their strong connection and nuanced performances, combined with West’s guidance, will make the story powerfully engaging and memorable.

Joshua Levine, a historical consultant with experience on the films *Dunkirk* and *Blitz*, also provided his expertise.

Meanwhile, Sheen was just announced for another historical drama, this time on stage.

He will star as Owain Glyndŵr, the last Welshman to be Prince of Wales, in a new stage production called *Owain & Henry*. The show will debut in Cardiff next year, and tickets will be available starting November 3rd.

The story will depict Owain Glyndŵr’s rebellion against English rule and King Henry IV, and his efforts to create an independent Wales.

Fortitude is currently filming and doesn’t currently have a release date.
