Sky has released the official trailer for the upcoming drama, The Death of Bunny Munro, starring Matt Smith. The show will premiere on Thursday, November 20th.
Sky describes the six-part series as a compelling story—both a warning and a heartwarming look at a father-son relationship. It stars Smith as Bunny, a man dealing with grief and sex addiction while trying to raise his son after the death of his wife.
The series is based on Nick Cave’s popular novel. It tells the story of Bunny Munro (played by Matt Smith), a traveling beauty salesman with a complicated personal life. After his wife tragically takes her own life, Bunny is suddenly responsible for his young son, Bunny Junior (Rafael Mathé), despite having little idea how to be a father.

Bunny and Junior are both dealing with a painful loss, but they cope with it very differently. Bunny tries to distract himself by taking Junior on a chaotic road trip, going door-to-door selling things around Brighton and the nearby coastline.

Bunny constantly moves from one attempt to charm women to the next, while Junior spends his time talking to his mother’s ghost and beginning to understand just how flawed and troubled his father really is.
As Bunny’s life falls apart, he understands he needs to help his son avoid the same mistakes he made – to prevent him from growing up with limited and old-fashioned ideas about manhood and repeating Bunny’s own life.
Newcomer Mathé stars in the Sky series, alongside Sarah Greene (known from Bad Sisters), Johann Myers (Without Sin), Alice Feetham (Boiling Point), David Threlfall (Shameless), and Elizabeth Berrington (Frauds).

The series is being written by Pete Jackson, known for his work on Somewhere Boy, and directed by Isabella Eklöf, who previously worked on Industry. Clerkenwell Films, the company behind Baby Reindeer, produced the series in partnership with Sky Studios.
In addition to this heartwarming story, Smith also displayed a gentle and sensitive side, a quality he previously showcased in the film Caught Stealing.
Director Darren Aronofsky recently told Radio Times that Jaden Smith found playing the character of Russ in the Austin Butler crime thriller particularly challenging. Aronofsky explained that portraying Russ, who is somewhat naive, required a delicate touch, adding that despite being a rebellious character, there was a surprising gentleness to him.
Smith explained his take on the character in an interview with Radio Times, describing Russ as someone going through a lot of anxiety and stress. He shared that the director, Darren, early on suggested Russ had a certain ‘sweetness’ and sensitivity, which explains why he behaves the way he does.
The Death of Bunny Munro premieres of Sky and NOW Thursday 20 November.
