Matt Smith’s excellent British thriller is on TV tonight

If you’re eagerly anticipating Matt Smith’s next appearance on screen in the Sky drama “The Death of Bunny Munro“, here’s a film that will keep you entertained tonight.

2019’s political suspense film “Official Secrets” features Keira Knightley portraying the character of British intelligence operative Katharine Gun, while Smith takes on the role of Martin Bright, a real-life journalist. Additionally, Ralph Fiennes plays Ben Emmerson, a lawyer in this dramatic tale based on true events.

According to the account presented in the 2019 book “The Spy Who Tried to Stop a War”, the film narrates the story of Katharine Gun, who chooses to stand against her own government for a higher cause.

If you want to watch (or rewatch) it, Official Secrets airs tonight at 11.50pm on BBC One.

No need to fret if it’s past movie time, not even on Saturdays, or if you missed its TV premiere. The film “Official Secrets” can be easily streamed on BBC iPlayer soon after it airs on BBC One.

Can’t hold back your excitement? You can stream the movie “Official Secrets” immediately if you’re a Netflix subscriber!

You can also rent or buy it digitally on Prime Video, iTunes and other digital retailers.

As a gamer, I’d put it like this: In this movie, you’ll find Matthew Goode from ‘Downton Abbey’, Indira Varma who was a key player in ‘Game of Thrones’, and Rhys Ifans, my fellow cast member in ‘House of the Dragon’.

In the year 2003, the story unfolds in “Official Secrets” where we encounter Katherine Gun, who obtained a document from the National Security Agency (NSA). This document suggested that Britain was being requested to assist the United States in gathering sensitive information aimed at influencing members of the UN Security Council.

In a different scenario, their intention was to coerce them into supporting an invasion of Iraq through extortion. Unwilling to have her nation involved in a violent conflict in the Middle East, Gun chooses to reveal the confidential memo to the media, and eventually, it lands in the possession of Martin Bright, a journalist from The Observer.

The movie titled “Official Secrets” was generally well-received by critics, with a commendable 82% score (based on 167 reviews) on Rotten Tomatoes.

Tonight at 11:50 PM, you can catch the gripping drama “Official Secrets” on BBC One. In no time, it’ll also be accessible for viewing on BBC iPlayer following the live telecast.
