Matt Smith gives update on the third season of House of the Dragon as he shows off his bold mohawk hair style at New York Comic Con 2024
As an ardent fan of House of the Dragon and Matt Smith, I must say that this news has left me in a state of eager anticipation tinged with a touch of frustration. On one hand, I am thrilled to know that we will get more of the captivating tale of Westeros, especially with the enigmatic Daemon Targaryen played by Matt. On the other hand, the fact that he is keeping us in suspense about his character’s future actions is driving me to distraction!
Matt Smith openly acknowledged that he’s equally clueless about the third season of House of the Dragon as its fans are, during his visit to New York Comic Con 2024 last weekend.
In a new twist, the 41-year-old actor who plays Daemon Targaryen in the Game Of Thrones prequel series has admitted that he hasn’t received any scripts for upcoming seasons or been informed about the direction the story will take in season three.
House of the Dragon’s second season finished airing on August 4, after eight episodes.
The magical-themed TV series has been given a continuation for another two seasons, and the following part is expected to be launched in 2026; filming will commence in the coming year.
Over the weekend, Matt joined a panel discussion on the show with his fellow actors Fabian Frankel (as Criston Cole) and Tom Glynn-Carney (as Aegon II Targaryen). During this appearance, they were queried if they had glimpsed any scripts for the upcoming third season.
However, Tom confessed, “Absolutely nothing, no word at all. The more time that passes, the more we can avoid reading anything temporarily.
Matt said, “I haven’t seen or heard any news about it. As for me, I’m clueless. Have any of you heard anything?
But Fabian teased: ‘I’ve heard some things that I couldn’t possibly share here’.
In August, it became known that the series would conclude following its fourth season. This information comes from the show’s creator, Ryan Condal, who mentioned that the third season is currently being written at present.
He mentioned that they’ll carry on with the preparatory work for the series this fall, aiming for the start of production early next year.
For the initial season, we aired ten episodes. The subsequent one consisted of eight. However, when inquired about the number of episodes for the third season, Ryan mentioned that he hasn’t engaged in any talks regarding this matter with HBO yet.
From my point of view, I expect the rhythm or flow of the series, particularly in terms of its engaging narrative style, will remain consistent as we move into season two.
In contrast to Season 1 which mainly centered around House Targaryen, Season 2 expands its character roster by introducing individuals from Winterfell, the abode of House Stark, as well as commoners who are subjects under the House of the Dragon’s rule.
At this year’s Comic-Con, I couldn’t help but be captivated by Matt’s bold transformation. He sported a sleek shaven head and a vibrant mohawk, artfully braided for the panel discussion. It was truly a spectacle to behold!
For his forthcoming movie “Caught Stealing,” based on Charlie Huston’s 2005 novel of the same title, the actor from “Doctor Who” has opted for a daring new appearance.
In August, Matt became a part of the cast for the crime thriller, taking on the role of character Red, who will be acting alongside Austin Butler, who has been nominated for an Oscar.
This month, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing two familiar faces on the streets of New York. Interestingly, Matt has transformed himself almost beyond recognition, sporting a punk-rock-inspired attire for their film shoot.
He was seen sporting a wild orange and yellow mohawk hair style, plaid trousers adorned with chains and a dusty trench coat.
During filming, the actor brandished a firearm for the dramatic sequences. Later, he got into a worn-out black vehicle with Austin, who was 33 years old at the time.
In the heart of the ’90s, I found myself immersed in a captivating tale about Hank Thompson, once a star baseball player brought to life by Austin himself. Yet, this wasn’t just another sports story; it plunged me deep into the gritty criminal underworld of the Big Apple, where Hank became entangled in its intricate web.
The star-studded cast also includes Zoë Kravitz, Liev Schreiber, Griffin Dunne, Vincent D’Onofrio, Regina King and Bad Bunny.
Darren Aronofsky will be the director, as he adapts the screenplay himself, with production handled by Darren, Jeremy Dawson, Dylan Golden, and Ari Handel.
Sony Pictures plans to release the movie, but no specific date has been announced yet.
