Universal Pictures just released a new trailer for Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated film, The Odyssey.

I’m already so excited about this movie! What really stands out is that the director really wanted to show things happening for real, instead of just relying on computer effects. The new trailer proves it – you see Matt Damon as Odysseus actually in the water after being at war for ten years, telling his story to Calypso, played by Charlize Theron. It looks amazing! He’s desperate to get back home to Ithaca, to his family and his throne, and the trailer shows him fighting all sorts of incredible creatures – the Cyclops, these huge giants called Laestrygonians, and even just trying to survive the dangerous sea. It feels so much more real and epic because of it.

Robert Pattinson plays Antinous, a villain trying to take over the kingdom of Ithaca while Odysseus is away. Meanwhile, Odysseus’s wife, Penelope (played by Anne Hathaway), and their son, Telemachus (played by Tom Holland), still believe Odysseus will come home and are determined to hold onto the throne.

The film also features a fantastic lineup of actors including Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, Mia Goth, Elliot Page, Travis Scott, and several others.
