Matt Damon admits this Oscar-nominated actor ‘looked exactly like me’ as a child: ‘I hope I get to work with him’
As a lifestyle expert with over three decades of observation and analysis under my belt, I must say that the bond between Matt Damon and his acting doppelganger, Jesse Plemons, is nothing short of extraordinary. Both have graced our screens with their exceptional talent and versatility, but it’s their uncanny resemblance that truly captures the imagination.
Over time, people have often pointed out the similarity between Matt Damon and Jesse Plemons. Yet, after many years, it was only recently that Matt was inquired about whether he thought they looked alike, even though there’s a gap of 17 years between them.
The 53-year-old Academy Award-winning screenwriter clearly agreed, expressing assurance during his appearance on Access Hollywood on Monday.
On June 11th, the 36-year-old actor nominated for an Oscar was figuratively put in a pen on Jimmy Kimmel Live, as the talk show host has a longstanding public feud with Damon, who resembles him.
Jesse shared that he played a young character named John Grady Cole, who is a cowboy portrayed by a Cambridge-born blonde in the movie “All the Pretty Horses,” directed by Billy Bob Thornton, when he was only 11 years old.
‘It was the most exciting part that I had gotten,’ Plemons recalled.
When the movie was about to start, my mom contacted our local cinema and arranged a private screening for us. I asked a girl I liked to join, expecting to be the opening scene. However, I wasn’t present when the film began.
It appears that all his scenes were removed from the movie, making him wonder if perhaps Matt was responsible for the edit.
Kimmel scoffed: ‘Of course it was him. Billy Bob would never do that.’
However, Damon cherishes positive recollections from the Texas filming location, as the team was remarkably taken aback by their striking similarities.
Before I encountered him, five individuals approached me and expressed something along the lines of, “This youngster bears an uncanny resemblance to you, it’s hard to believe!” The actor shared this with Access.
‘The photographer capturing stills snapped a photo of us as a pair, since I found it hard to accept. The man seemed strikingly similar to me when I was young. My 11-year-old face didn’t appear as if it would eventually resemble me. He looked identical to me. I exclaimed, “This is quite unusual!”‘
Speaking as a lifestyle enthusiast, I must say, he’s an exceptional actor, and I admire his choices and performances immensely. He’s captivating to watch, and I take pride in the association implied by the comparison. Frankly, collaborating with him is a dream of mine. I hold him in high regard, and I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to work alongside him.
In an upcoming movie titled “The Instigators,” directed by Doug Liman, Damon and Casey Affleck will take on the roles of robbers named Rory and Cobby, who are on the run. The film, a comedic heist production, is set to premiere in select US cinemas this Friday, and will be available for streaming starting August 9 on Apple TV+.
The adult-themed movie will additionally feature actors like Hong Chau, Michael Stuhlbarg, Paul Walter Hauser, Ving Rhames, Alfred Molina, Toby Jones, Jack Harlow, and Ron Perlman.
In the coming times, Jesse has some exciting roles lined up. These include a six-part conspiracy thriller titled Zero Day, directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, which will be streaming on Netflix. Additionally, he is set to star in Yorgos Lanthimos’ upcoming sci-fi comedy film titled Bugonia, alongside Emma Stone.
