Masters of the Universe’s must-see credit scene brings in iconic character

You can now watch the live-action Masters of the Universe movie, featuring He-Man, from the comfort of your home on Prime Video. Even better, it’s included if you already have a Prime Video subscription!

Travis Knight, the director of Bumblebee and Wildwood, delivers a lighthearted and knowingly cheesy Masters of the Universe that’s enjoyable from beginning to end. Fans of the original 1980s series should definitely stay through the credits – there’s a special bonus for those familiar with the story’s background.

The film has three credit scenes, and the second one features fan-favourite character She-Ra.

The end credits feature only a glimpse of the Princess of Power, portrayed by Lauren Saliu, from the back, and there’s a specific reason for this choice.

I really hoped to include her in the film, but there were difficult legal issues to sort out, according to Knight in an interview with GamesRadar+.

What to Read Next

We managed to pull it off with almost no budget, right at the very end of filming. We were rushing to create the set and find a costume once we finally secured the rights, but it really paid off – she looks fantastic.

According to Knight, the scene was completed so late in the production process that even the studio didn’t view it until the premiere, where it received a strong reaction from the audience.

The crowd suddenly burst into applause, which was amazing,” Knight shared. “It was genuinely touching to see how much that character resonates with people, especially since they’d never seen her brought to life on the big screen before.

A sequel to Masters of the Universe is potentially in the works, and She-Ra is expected to have a significant role. However, it seems unlikely that actress Tanya Saliu will reprise the part.

In an interview with Polygon, Knight revealed they have someone in mind for the role of She-Ra if a movie were ever made, but declined to share who it is.

He playfully suggested that, because she’s identical to Adam, Nick had been jokingly suggesting he just wear a blonde wig. He admitted he’d considered it himself, but thought there might be a more practical solution.

Despite a disappointing performance in cinemas, a sequel to Masters of the Universe isn’t out of the question. Here at Digital Spy, we believe the film deserves another look, and its success on streaming could potentially lead to a follow-up movie.

Masters of the Universe is available to stream now on Prime Video.
