Masters of the Universe hailed as “perfect” as first reactions land ahead of release

Early reactions to the new Masters of the Universe movie, starring Nicholas Galitzine, are very positive, with some calling it “perfect” and “truly epic.” After a premiere in Los Angeles last night, viewers shared their first impressions of the live-action film before it hits theaters in June.

After a charmingly old-fashioned trailer, the new movie starring Camila Mendes and Idris Elba tells the story of Adam Glenn (Galitzine), the prince of Eternia, who rediscovers his Sword of Power. He soon learns that the evil sorcerer Skeletor (Jared Leto) now controls Eternia, and joins forces with Teela (Mendes) and Man-At-Arms (Elba) to become He-Man and save the world.

The film’s cast features Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena Glenn (Adam’s mother), James Purefoy as King Randor (Adam’s father), Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress, and Kristen Wiig providing the voice for Roboto.

Early reactions to the movie on Twitter/X have been very positive, with viewers particularly enjoying its fun, over-the-top style and humor reminiscent of 1980s films.

Courtney Howard, a film critic, enjoyed Masters of the Universe, calling it a wonderfully epic experience. She compared it to the Guardians of the Galaxy films, praising its self-aware humor and positive message. She also highlighted strong performances from Nicholas Galitzine and Camila Mendes.
