In the film, directed and co-written by Joachim Trier, Bill Skarsgård plays Gustav Borg, a well-known director struggling to connect with his daughters, Nora (Renate Reinsve) and Agnes (Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas).
Gustav reconnects with his daughters after a long period of distance while starting a new project. He asks Nora to be involved, but she turns down the offer. To her surprise, she then learns that Hollywood actress Rachel Kemp (Elle Fanning) has taken the role instead.
