MasterChef Star’s Heartbreaking Jock Tribute Will Make You Cry
In simple terms, Judge Andy Allen from MasterChef Australia paid an emotional tribute to his deceased colleague, Jock Zonfrillo, marking two years since his passing.
A well-known culinary expert, aged 37, who teamed up with Jock on Channel Ten’s hit cooking contest from 2020 until 2023, posted a nostalgic picture on social media of the two of them and added some poignant comments.
‘Two years since we lost the great man, Jock Zonfrillo. I miss him more than ever,’ Andy wrote.
In this snapshot, the happy duo is gleefully displaying a collection of strings with sausages attached, which they are holding high for the camera’s gaze.
Jock’s widow Lauren posted a love heart emoji, as did celebrity chef Darren Robertson.
On the unfortunate occasion of April 30, 2023, adored culinary icon Jock was discovered lifeless in a hotel within the neighborhood of Carlton, close to Melbourne’s city center. Regrettably, this day also marked the 35th birthday of an individual named Andy.
Previously, I’ve shared that the passing of my dear friend and on-screen partner was the most challenging period I’ve ever experienced in my life.
Previously, he shared his experiences of coping with the loss of Jock, mentioning that grieving under public scrutiny was particularly challenging for him.
In a straightforward manner, the TV host openly disclosed that this was his initial encounter with a personal crisis of such magnitude.
He shared with the Herald Sun that it was an incredibly challenging period for him, as he’d never experienced such a personal tragedy so up-close. It was unchartered territory for him, and to compound matters, he had to navigate this ordeal in the public spotlight. As a result, it proved to be exceptionally tough for him.
Andy chose not to take time for mourning so that he could support Jock’s family – specifically his spouse, Lauren, along with their children Alfie, aged 8, and Isla, aged 4, in addition to his grown-up daughters Ava and Sophia from previous relationships.
He shared the profound emotional impact it had on him and described spending an entire day in tears, following his trip to Sicily to celebrate Jock’s birthday.
He expressed that for an entire day, he intermittently wept, taking breaks here and there to compose himself, only to start weeping again.

Andy acknowledged that his sorrow struck him on two occasions during the filming of the recent MasterChef series, marking the first time he worked without his dear friend Jock by his side.
Back in the day, I nearly missed out on gracing the stage of that highly anticipated cooking competition in 2024, but boy, am I ever grateful I persisted through my sorrow and made it!
He shared with The Project that it was a challenging task; he wasn’t certain if he could complete it, but now that he has, he feels relieved, though it was difficult.
It was discovered that Jock had passed away at the Zagame’s House hotel located in Carlton, which is just outside of Melbourne’s central business district, approximately at 2am on April 30, 2023.
In the heartfelt dedication of its fifteenth season, Network 10 chose to honor Jock and his beloved family by airing his episodes posthumously. They paid tribute to him with a solemn recognition of his ‘unexpected and heartbreaking demise.’
During that period, his wife Lauren was in Italy accompanied by their two kids. She had contacted Victoria Police to arrange a wellness visit as he had ceased responding to her calls.
Jock’s passing occurred a day prior to the scheduled start of MasterChef’s 2023 season, causing a one-week delay in its broadcast as a gesture of respect.
