Former MasterChef contestant and well-known TikTok personality, Yanin Campos, tragically passed away after a severe car crash in Mexico.
38-year-old contestant from the popular cooking show, who competed back in 2018, was driving her SUV in her native city, Chihuahua, on Saturday. It’s said that she apparently lost control of the vehicle and collided with a parked car, based on reports from local news sources.
Photos circulating on the internet depict the aftermath of the collision, featuring a severely damaged SUV belonging to Campos.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries two days later.
Her brother, Raúl Campo, confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement on social media.
‘He shared the sad news with our loved ones that his beloved sister, Yanin Campos, has passed away.’
‘The wake is at the Hernández Funeral Home for those who would like to say goodbye and join us.’
Despite coming in sixth place during the 2018 season of MasterChef Mexico, Campos received an invitation to return and compete again in MasterChef: La Revancha in 2019.
The authorities reported that a fatal accident happened approximately at 6:30 a.m. on a Saturday on the Francisco R. Almada highway.
Campos drove a black GMC Terrain, and it’s said that she swerved from her path and crashed into a parked vehicle.
The emergency team moved her to Park Hospital, where she stayed critically ill until she sadly passed away in the Intensive Care Unit on Monday evening.
Local police have opened an investigation to determine what led to the crash.
