MasterChef Australia star Shannon Bennett is slammed for the way he makes scrambled eggs in $400 Le Creuset saucepan
As a long-time follower and admirer of Shannon Bennett’s culinary prowess, I must admit that his recent Instagram post left me somewhat perplexed. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always appreciated his innovative approach to cooking, but scrambled eggs without water, milk, or cream? It’s a bold move, Captain Cook!
As a seasoned connoisseur of culinary arts, I, like MasterChef Australia’s own Shannon Bennett, have my fair share of unique approaches to classic dishes. Recently, I stirred up a bit of conversation online when I shared an unexpected method for preparing scrambled eggs. Some found it intriguing, while others were left slightly bewildered. Regardless, it seems that the debate on the perfect scrambled egg continues!
The celebrity chef, 48, posted the footage to Instagram, which captured him enthusiastically preparing the dish in his expensive $400 Le Creuset saucepan.
Instead, Shannon clarified to his followers that he won’t be preparing the dish using the traditional method of combining ‘water, milk, and cream’, as he believes this approach will make the eggs less flavorful or dense by diluting them.
Shannon informed his audience, “I’m simply mixing eggs with a touch of butter and salt for seasoning while I whip up this classic morning dish.
Next, he added uncooked eggs directly into the skillet, stirring them gently as he combined them, followed by adding olive oil and allowing the mixture to cook at a low temperature.
In a casual, easy-to-understand style, let’s rephrase that sentence: The skilled cook picked up his high-end Le Creuset saucepan and carefully poured in the hot eggs, stirring them swiftly with a spatula before delightfully informing his followers that the meal was now prepared.
‘It’s pretty easy to make scrambled eggs. Keep it simple,’ Shannon wrote in the caption.
One fan playfully quipped, “I believe you’re an exceptional chef, but I’m traditionally-minded – I prefer dishes with eggs, cream, butter, and lots of butter!
‘I love my scrambled eggs with butter and cream,’ a second person wrote.
‘Would Gordon Ramsay approve?’ a third user asked.

Over the Christmas break, Shannon, known for having six kids with former partner Madeleine West, made his new romance with Erica public.
Back in March, he shared details about his budding relationship with Erica, a former wife of businessman James Packer, with the Herald Sun.
‘Erica is great,’ Shannon told the publication.
“She’s incredibly skilled, constantly moving back and forth. It’s an exhilarating and astounding journey – it’s hard to believe we haven’t crossed paths sooner. We’re thoroughly enjoying every moment. I consider myself quite fortunate,” he noted.
