Masterchef Australia star announces surprising career move: ‘I’m so excited for this chapter’

A beloved MasterChef Australia star has made a major career announcement.

In the cherished cooking competition, Savindri ‘Sav’ Perera came in third during season 16. This year, she returned to compete again in the Back To Win series.

Currently, Sav is unveiling her next step, where she will assume the role of a judge during the premiere season of MasterChef Sri Lanka.

Previously involved individual announced on Instagram about her fresh assignment, expressing her enthusiasm for the upcoming phase in her culinary adventure.

I never imagined that strongly embracing my cultural heritage and home country would open up such a tremendous opportunity for me.

The charming title went hand-in-hand with photos featuring Sav in her fresh judge role, standing among her top-tier colleagues – acknowledged as the cream of the crop in Sri Lanka.

From Peter, a prominent figure who significantly contributed to Sri Lanka’s global recognition, to Rohan, an esteemed chef and current head of the Bocuse d’Or committee for Sri Lanka (boasting numerous other honors), to Kapila, one of the most distinguished chefs in Sri Lanka.

‘I am a baby in my culinary journey amongst these stupendous names.’

She admitted later that even though she was thrilled with the chance, at first, she had doubts about whether she was capable enough to handle such a significant role.

Initially, the proposal made me feel inadequate due to self-doubt and an overwhelming sense that I didn’t belong or wasn’t capable. The feeling of being an imposter was intense, and I found myself questioning my worth and the contribution I could make.

Yet, the recent weeks have shown her that her prior role as a contestant is actually her most valuable asset when serving on the judging panel.

I’ve experienced firsthand the intense atmosphere of the MasterChef competition arena. I understand the emotions that come with falling short, the thrill of victory, and the disappointment of being sent home.

She finished off the post: ‘I am grateful, I am humbled and truly so excited for this chapter.

‘Participating in MasterChef transformed my world – what a wonderful privilege it is to play a role in transforming another person’s life too.’

Previously, Sav touched the hearts of MasterChef spectators when she disclosed her challenging struggle with a severe mental health issue.

On Instagram, Sav candidly shared her struggles with body dysmorphic disorder, a mental health issue where one excessively worries about and fixates on a perceived imperfection in their physical appearance.

In an honest post, Sav shared the profound self-loathing they felt towards themselves due to a lifetime spent feeling unattractive because of their weight.

Each day, I apply my makeup and present myself, as my drive to compete outweighs my dislike of my physical appearance.
