As a dedicated follower of music, especially heavy metal, I have to say that this recent turn of events surrounding Tenacious D has left me feeling rather disheartened. For years, I have admired their unique blend of comedy and rock, and their ability to bring joy to millions through their music. However, the recent controversy involving Kyle Gass’s ill-timed joke about Donald Trump has cast a dark shadow over the band’s future.

The controversy surrounding Tenacious D and their abruptly cancelled tour was swept aside on Saturday evening as Jack Black welcomed the artist responsible for inspiring them at the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Inductees Ceremony.

At a glittering gathering in Cleveland, Ohio, it was Black who had the privilege of presenting Ozzy Osbourne, as he was recognized for the second time with an honorary induction in the world of rock music.

75-year-old, often referred to as the “Prince of Darkness,” was previously welcomed into the legendary heavy metal band Black Sabbath back in 2006.

55-year-old Black, with a thick beard, seemed awestruck when he greeted his revered musician idol, as their band had to abandon their tour due to offensive remarks from guitarist Kyle Gass.

After making a joke about Donald Trump being involved in a failed assassination attempt during a performance with Tenacious D, Gass found it necessary to apologize.

During a rally in Pennsylvania held in July, Republican presidential contender Donald Trump sustained an injury when a stray bullet brushed against his ear, leaving him visibly hurt and disoriented.

After being taken aback by his bandmate’s unexpected comments during their performance in Sydney, Black temporarily paused any further creative projects for the group.

On Saturday night before an illustrious gathering, Black publicly acknowledged that Ozzy’s tunes were among those he listened to growing up, which in turn shaped the musical path he took with Tenacious D.

As a teenager, I stumbled upon a record store and found myself at a crossroads: Should I choose Styx or Journey? But then, there it was – something that would change my life forever: Ozzy. I had never heard of him before, but the moment his music filled the air, I knew I had found a new obsession.

An experienced fan of classic rock, who appeared to be older, observed my hesitation, and he advised me, “Quit dilly-dallying, young one. The album you should buy is ‘Blizzard of Ozz’.

Indeed, he hit the nail on the head! To whomever you might be, hidden gem among rock enthusiasts, thank you for touching my life so profoundly. The image of that album cover with Ozzy’s captivating gaze drew me in before the music even played. I was utterly spellbound.

Man, I was absolutely blown away by that stunning ensemble! The daring combination of red and white, accentuated by those eye-catching white fringes on the sleeves, was simply breathtaking. And then there was his expression, wild and unpredictable, like a storm brewing within him. The skull and cross emblem, oh my goodness! Talk about badass! I can’t help but feel awestruck by the whole package. Incredible doesn’t even begin to describe it.

‘It was the most metal thing I’d ever seen, and I didn’t even know what metal was. He was teaching me. I didn’t realize I was entering a whole new world of heavy metal music.’

In an awkward moment, Gass told his joke inappropriately during Black’s rendition of “Happy Birthday” for the 64-year-old guitarist. His response was, “Don’t forget about Trump the next time.” (or alternatively, “Watch out for Trump the next time.”)

After the concert, Black star : ‘I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday.

I firmly oppose hate speech and any kind of political violence, and I’ve decided that for ethical reasons, I won’t be proceeding with the Tenacious D tour anymore. All upcoming creative projects are temporarily paused as well.

‘I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.’

Additionally, Gass expressed his apologies, stating: “The spontaneous remark I made during the performance in Sydney on Sunday was extremely inappropriate, potentially harmful, and an enormous error.

I strongly disapprove of any form of violence directed towards anyone, regardless of the circumstances. The event that transpired was deeply regrettable, and I offer my sincere apologies for my poor judgment in this matter.

‘I profoundly apologize to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused.’

It was later revealed that Black decided to abruptly end Tenacious D’s tour, possibly as a last-ditch effort to stay clear of losing his position in Hollywood and risking his future film projects.

According to a source who spoke exclusively to DailyMail.com, Jack Black remains close friends with Kyle Gass. When Kyle recently made a comment about Trump that stirred up some controversy, Jack felt compelled to address the situation swiftly, given his position in Hollywood.

Despite being taken aback both by the event itself and its subsequent response, Jack took proactive measures to stay a step ahead.

Jack doesn’t want his actions to lead to cancellation and by concluding the tour and distancing himself from everything related, he aims for the incident with Kyle’s joke to be swiftly overlooked.

With numerous large-scale films currently tied to his name, stepping away from them now would essentially end his career. However, expect another appearance from Tenacious D, though it may take several years before that happens.

At present, Black boasts a lineup of three films in the editing phase, one of them being the forthcoming blend of science fiction, action, and comedy titled Borderlands, set to hit theaters later in 2022.

In a live-action movie adaptation of Minecraft, set to hit theaters on April 4, 2025, he takes the lead role, sharing the screen with Jason Momoa and Danielle Brooks.

In the upcoming Christmas comedy titled “Dear Santa,” he’ll be appearing alongside Keegan-Michael Key on the screen. This film tells the story of a young boy who unintentionally delivers his Christmas wishes to none other than Satan instead.

It’s reported that Gass, a vocal critic of Trump, is concerned about the state of their friendship with Jack.

According to the source, Kyle had no desire for things to escalate to this stage, it was evident. He truly regrets the consequences that ensued.

Initially, he considered it as a casual remark made during the performance, but unexpectedly, it grew into something bigger. Now, he’s coming to terms with the circumstances that have unfolded from it.

‘He just hopes that people will forgive him and that it won’t impact his friendship with Jack.’
