Mass Effect 5 Could See the Return of Paragon and Renegade Morality System

It seems there’s a strong possibility that the moral system reminiscent of a hero/villain in the next Mass Effect game may make a reappearance. This assumption arises from speculation surrounding a piece of concept art, which suggests a potential return for the good versus evil aspect.

Although Project Director Mike Gamble didn’t express strong affirmation, it appears that the moral system from the original Mass Effect trilogy could potentially be included in Mass Effect 5 (which might or might not be called Mass Effect Epsilon). These indications about the return of the moral system stem from social media posts on Twitter/X, with Gamble mentioning that a larger number of players opted for paragon choices over renegade.

He pointed out that the availability of rogue options enhanced the significance of virtuous choices, yet clarified that his comment pertained to the initial trilogy. Regarding whether the morality system will return for Mass Effect 5, he simply responded with “You’ll have to wait and see…” His response suggests that there may be no decision made yet, which is intriguing.

For Mass Effect 5, they won’t be using the artistic style that BioWare used in Dragon Age: The Veilguard (a style I must admit I find quite appealing). Instead, as per Gamble’s statement, the upcoming Mass Effect will preserve the mature tone of the series. Here’s hoping we get more concrete information about Mass Effect this year; otherwise, it might be time to take a renegade approach!

I was talking about the trilogy. You’ll just have to wait and see…
